The 2 TB external HD will be a backup data drive. It allows me to backup my entire internal 500 MB backup drive giving me confidence that I won’t lose everything. Also I can access the data with other computers in remote off line locations. My image files of XP Pro and XP Pro 64 bit and other programs are safely secure with the ext 2 TB drive.

I bought this external hard drive to back up the pictures I take. I had a Western Digital drive that I never had any problems with, but I filled it up. Since I had such good luck with Western Digital in the past, I went with this drive. At 3TB, it should take me a while to fill this one. So far I think this product is great.

Great product. Does what it’s supposed to do. B&H is the best!

works great so far, seems well built, no problem getting up and running .

I bought this drive in January to use as a Time Machine backup disk for MacOS X. Took only a few minutes to hook up and format, and it has been running smoothly ever since. I have about 1.6 TB of data on it and backups occur every hour. It is always on, but so quiet I don’t even notice it’s there. I’m back to buy a 2.5 TB version.

Great Product for a great price

It does the job. These are workhorse hard drives that aren’t the fastest, but are great backup or longterm storage hard drives

When I saw this mega 16TB hard drive listed on sale for $269.99, I had to jump on it. That’s $16.87 per TB of storage! And with using B&H’s Payboo credit card, I didn’t have to pay a 8% state sales tax, which was a big plus and a further discount. This WD Elements drive is just as I expect – a solid performer that doesn’t disappoint. On average, data transfer rate is up there at over 150mb/sec. At times it even hit 200mb+/sec. I have yet to find reliability as an issue with WD drives as I have never had a WD drive that failed on me – unlike Seagate, which I have quite a few of them lying around being used as paperweights!

Love the USB3 speed. Using these to connect to a server that contains movies and other media. Replicating between two drives daily rather than worrying about setting up RAID. Have a total of four of these drives. First two purchased about a year ago and they are still going strong.

I purchased this drive to house all our family photos, and videos. This 3TB drive will be able to hold many, many memories to come! I am having an issue getting the WD icon to show correctly on the PC drives screen, but very minor issue for the drive itself.

All external drives should be easy to setup and work out of the box, and this one did that. Drive is quiet enough and is a non-issue since it will be used as a storage drive. The main problem with cheap external drives is how long it lasts past the first year or two.

I had a WD my book hard drive for about a month and was getting ready to get another when it crashed and lost all data. this is my second elements drive (have a 2tb also) and they just keep working. they are quiet. No preloaded software (yea). I can not complain at all.

I use it w/ my MAC. Found instructions on WD website on how to format it very easy. Works great!

Two key criteria for me to buy this disk – price and the ability to use it in countries with 220V (the power adapter autoswitches). The enclosure is just a plastic box, a bit tricky to open if you want to replace the disk. Also a bit worried about disk overheating. It’s a nice that the disks are already NTFS formatted. If you need cheap external storage that does not need to be always on and you don’t care about style then this is a good choice.

Nice looking and so far reliable, with no complaints.

I use this as a backup drive. I’ve had great luck with WD drives — haven’t had one fail yet. I’ve used them on both OS X and Windows without an issue.

I shucked the 10TB white drive and put it in my WD MyCloud that I wanted to upgrade from 2TB. Works great!

The Western Digital Elements 2TB is a no-frill, compact-sized desktop hard drive that works great. You get an excellent hard drive with no gimmick software I wouldn’t use. It’s formatted for Windows or Mac, but it’s simple to format it before use to optimize its use with a Mac. It’s fast and quiet. It stacks neatly on my first one, which has operated flawlessly.

get’s the job done and has no issues with Mac. It is slow to use directly with programs such as Adobe CC, specifically Premiere Pro, due to slower write speeds, but not a big deal as it’s easy to work around by creating a temporary copy of whatever files you’re working with on the local ssd. For the price, it gets the job done as needed.
