I have two of these which I use as extended storage for NAS drives. They work great.
Cayla Upton (verified owner) –
Used less than one month and so far so good, good price.

So far, so good. I wish I had purchased the 18TB drive simply for the extra space.

Worked well right out of the box. … My 2TB drive has lots of capacity, but it took most of the day to write around 600GB from one HD to the new one via USB2. I will definitely enjoy the speed of USB3 when it becomes standard. In the meantime the HD is easy to use and compatible with Win 7. I wish it had a power switch… and the activity lamp should have been put on the front for convenience. The drive is super quiet and stays cool. Pleased with the value. B&H has always been a reliable source for my needs.

i use it to save my photos . Im a wedding album designer so i need to store a lot of pics and this hard drive pretty good for me

Good for storage. I use it to backup images, songs and data. The one issue is an operational issue when trying to do a system backup. I have not been able to create a system image or to backup a internal solid state and internal data drive. An I/O error message and the backup crashes,.

So much easier to store raw video footage on this than your computer’s hard drive….

I bought this WD 4GB additional ext HD to supplement the 2GB WD HD already connect to my I-Mac. Installation has been very easy thank to the great support offered by WD that with a simple phone call reformatted the new HD for both my I-Mac and my PC. The new device is working fine and it is very reliable as any other WD HD I have. Positively I would recommend this device and any WD HD to friends.

Works great – reliable so far. I saw people complaining about speed, but it’s USB 2.0, so speed seems to be exactly as advertised. Among the better cost per TB I’ve found.

8TB is a perfect size for keeping my PC backup done without worry. I have this locally connected to my PC’s USB 3.0 port. I use the Acronis for WD software which is free for a WD drive.

works good but with mac the setup is a bit odd
Jaylen Hamill (verified owner) –
I was thinking it was going to be faster. Running a VM off of it is pretty slow.

compact nice drive….

This is not a bells and whistles external hard drive, but it works just fine. I had no problems reformatting it for a Mac, plus it actually runs faster than I expected. For the money, it’s a very good value.

I bought this external HD to backup my data on a regular basis. Western Digital is a good brand I trust, so I am not disappointed with the product itself. However, unlike many other external HD this particular model didn’t come with any software. So I had find a separate software I could use to backup and sync my data. It’s quite disappointing that this HD doesn’t provide any software for the backup. Think this HD as a big, giant flash drive. You’re on your own when it comes to data backup and syncing your data. …

I purchased two of them and they both failed after a week or so! Don’t waste your time and money!!!
