My old EHD stopped working, sadly. So, I purchased this larger capacity Elements EHD. It was easy to install and even easier to use. I have copied all important files and folders from my C drive to it. I am happy with this 8TB WD Elements EHD.

Have quite a few of these and they’ve always been dependable for professional projects! Wish they were a bit cheaper.

Very easy to set up and use; also has surprisingly fast read/write speeds; I was expecting it to be much slower.

I bought this for use on my Mac and it works well but it requires formatting a small portion of in MSDOS FAT and doesn’t allow formatting strictly to Mac OS Extended which is why I gave it 4 stars. Otherwise I can’t complain. It’s extremely quiet as well.

I bought because of the price, but was a little concerned since I planned to use for a Mac. The reformatting and prep for Time Machine worked well, and it is backing up quickly and with no problems.

large hard drive, very fast response using usb 3.0

This my 7th WD hard drive. Over many years they are all still working. They are mainly used for Time machines. They work well.

I need to pack up my primary computer storage and even though i have a large raid back-up there is still a need to back every thing up every so often and store the hard drive in a safe place away from the computer. This simple large drive does the trick.

Great for backing up large image libraries. Don’t forget that redundancy is the best defense to prevent data loss. That means multiple back-up drives.

It is used to back up my images on hard drive. Impressive 3 TB capacity. However, it is kind of slow even with USB 3 connection. Or maybe my folder is just too big.

Huge storage

seems fine at this time but only a few weeks old. Longevity will be key and is unknown at this time.

It was a little slow but once stable I could quickly copy stuff without a hustle. Very reliable hard disk with stable operation. Looking forward to buying more.

The item came very well packaged and has worked well so far. It has a nice long USB cable and power cord so it doesn’t have to be right next to the computer.

These desktop drives are a good value for the size. They’re very quiet and reasonably sized. What else can you say? It’s a drive; it works. The power/activity light on the front is very small and not overly obtrusive. The only downsides for me are that the LED can’t be turned off if desired, nor can the sleep function be disabled or changed. After about 8 minutes with no activity, the drive spins down and goes to sleep. It then takes a few seconds to spin up when called, which can be a pain if your software is expecting an immediate response. If I don’t do anything for a while, the drive will be asleep. My editing software will exclaim that it can’t find my files, then break its links to each file, forcing me to re-link them all. Yes, the software could do a better job at this, but Western Digital gives no option to turn the sleep feature off. Annoying.

My iTunes library is huge. I like having it stored on at least two, preferably three hard drives. It took me many hours to rip all my CDs and manually find the cover artwork since iTunes is pretty lousy about doing that part. I definitely don’t want to lose all that so I turned to Western Digital. I already had a 4TB WD EHD on an older PC holding my iTunes library and purchased this one to replicate my library and use on a newer PC, so I have two working copies just in case. I now have plenty of room and can rip any new CDs in ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) to provide the best sound quality possible. Western Digital is my go to brand because of 1. Their reliablity, 2. Their warranty (just in case), and 3. Because their Elements series does NOT encrypt the data on the drive. Highly recommended if you need additional storage.

probably a 5400RPM drive in this unit…. not painfully slow, but certainly not suitable for anything that needs a fast read/write. Good for archive, itunes.

Not quite 14TB but close enough. Anyone who knows about storage knows you don’t quite get the full amount. The count on this particular drive is 12.7TB which isn’t bad. So far it is performing pretty good. I use it to store all my movies and tv shows. Shipping was really fast and the boxing was decent. All in all no real complaints. It does as it was intended.

Nice hard drive. Use it as a backup drive to my mac. Hooked it up formatted and partitioned as I needed. No Problems
