Preformatted NTFS for systems running Windows 10, 8.1, or 7, the 14TB Elements Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive from WD provides users with up to 14TB of add-on storage for their photos, videos, music, documents, and other files. It features a 5 Gb/s micro-USB 3.0 interface, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1, and is compatible with 480 Mb/s USB 2.0. It is powered using an 100-240 VAC power adapter, is formatted NTFS for Windows, and includes a USB cable.

After being in need of additional space due to my PC drive being full, I started to look for a solution. Initially looked at 1TB and 1.5TB drives but the prices seemed high. After a couple of weeks I came across this 3TB drive. It was only slightly more than many of the 1 and 1.5TB drives and a real bargain compared to the other vendors. Arrived quickly and has performed well to date. It was pre-formatted and did not contain unnecessary software like some drives.

Bought this to replace a bad 3tb Toshiba drive that failed after a year. Drive seems quiet and I’ve had good luck with WD products before. Wish this thing had a longer warranty, but some of my older WD drives are still kicking.

This Hard Drive was perfect right out of the box. Setup could not be simpler; just plug in the USB connection and connect the device to a power source. Using Windows 7 backup and restore, there was really no effort involved. All files transferred have done so properly and are easily accessed. I have no complaints and I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a good External Hard Drive at an excellent value.

It’s big and fast. It’s big. It has a lot of storage. Not a mini drive. Requires an external power source. Does the job. What I really like is that I can store pix & videos and back up my files without running low on space. Only drawback is its physical size, which is, as I said, big.

I’ve used portable drives, but never a desktop drive. Installation is just plug it in and it works. I was able to put it well out of sight, so I don’t even know its there. The only drawback (and its pretty minor) is that it seems to have slowed down the booting up of the computer (I-7, 16gb RAM), but not much – two or three more seconds.

I purchased two of these. I am a Macintosh (iMac) user and felt it was just time to replace the 5 year old disks I had for my data and for Time Machine. Reformatting these new disks for Mac use was a breeze. It did take a quite a while to transfer files from the old disks to the new ones (about 6TB transfer each) but now I am in business. AND these disks are very quiet compared to the old ones. I am pleased.
