Use this as a time machine backup and it does its job

It is the very best 2 TB external drive because it is the size of a 5×7 photo and only 1 1/2 inches thick. It has no decorative feet or stand as others do. It sits flat right behind my monitor and can hold a whopping 200,000 megs (MB). I have it permanently hooked to power and USB for all my photos and videos. Simple. Elegant. Black.

Every year I buy two of these (or similar Wester Digital) to make Backup A & BackUp B. This way I have the same wedding files in both. If something happens, I always have a backup. It is less expensive that buying a RAID. Just remember to format to Mac Extended Journaled if you use Apple computers (iMac, MacBook, etc. for optimal use.

I am a video editor and I use this drive as a backup, purely for storage purposes. My firewire 800’s are my editing drives. WD has never steered me wrong. I have 4 other external drives from WD and I will continue to purchase them for as long as they keep holding my media. Quick and easy reformat for Mac.

External 2TB hard drive is connected to a Lynksis E3000 dual band wireless router and functions as a network shared drive for documents, photos, music and video files. Have not the drive long, but installed w/o problems and works great so far. 4 out of 5 stars only because I have had it less than 90 days.

Downloaded the Western Digital Quick Formatter (only for WD external drives) and reformatted the disk into most compatible (512b sector) mode. Note that XP compatible is 4k sectors. External disk works fine with Windows Vista/7/2008/2008r2 image backup. Shared off of a Win 7 system. With USB 3.0 HBA, works super quick too. There was some static discharge while peeling off the protective film, but nothing got zapped on any of the four drives.

This is the 10th WD hard drive I’ve purchased. Wouldn’t buy any other brand…

get a lot less pixelation when watching videos off it compared to my hitachi external because it is a usb 2.0 drive.

I Love B&H Photo! … The Western Digital drives are fast, sleek and stylish and not to mention a great bargain (price per Gig).WD never lets me down and I use all of the time.

I have two WD external hard-drives for photo archival. One WD crashed after 7 years. Ordered and received 3TB Elements in timely fashion. Readily recognized by Windows 7, rapidly loaded all images and I feel secure once again. Sufficient memory for a life-time and even appears attractive. WD means worry departs.

I personally have never had a problem with any of my WD drives. I do wish these newer drives had a power button. I see mixed reviews of drive failure. I own a ton of these drives multiple years old. Obviously there are always exceptions. I have never had a problem. I don’t leave them on 24/7. Thats just unnecessary wear and tear. I think the drives are a great value.

Works as advertised. Big external hard drive.
