Designed for a variety of computing applications like gaming, HD media playback, creative software, and more, the 1TB Blue 3D NAND SATA III 2.5″ Internal SSD from WD is verified for use with a wide range of desktop and laptop computers with a 2.5″ / 7mm drive bay for faster system boots, application responses, and transfer speeds. This SSD operates with a lower average active power draw of 60mW and features a storage capacity of up to 1TB, a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, sequential write speeds of up to 530 MB/s, sequential read speeds of up to 560 MB/s, random writes of up to 84,000 IOPS, and random reads of up to 95,000 IOPS. Also employed is 1.75 million hours MTTF (mean time to failure) and an endurance rating (lifetime writes) of 400 TBW (terabytes written).
With solid-state drive technology, you benefit from load and access times for your files and programs that are faster than a conventional 7200 rpm hard drive. As SSDs have no moving parts, they are also more durable than traditional hard drives and are better protected against damage from drops and bumps. Having no moving parts also means that SSDs receive less wear and tear, as there are no read or write heads for the drive media to come into contact with. SSDs also help to deliver improved battery life and cooler operating temperatures. Protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty.

This Company has what I need when I need it. It is a pleasure to do business with them Greg

I installed this in an older desktop with SATA III ports and it is about twice as fast as my 7200 rpm drives. I haven’t had it long enough to judge reliability or longevity, but my other Western Digital drives have been good.

Unfortunately we are in a no mans land between rotational and flash based media. If you have a home NAS (or DAS really if its connected by TB or USB) you may have noticed that progress in spinning disks has stopped. We no longer see any improvement in performance or capacity. It seems the storage manufacturers are placing all their bets on flash based storage. Unfortunately a 2TB SSD costs more than my entire raid array did brand new. So I am stuck scavenging around the edges of available laptop drives that will fit a Drobomini. WD doesnt make 2.5 2TB red series. Only the blue comes in 2TB. Seagate and its acquisitions are not an option. All the Seagates Ive bought in the last 5 years have been problematic. The 2TB I put in my array started throwing status alerts in the Drobo console a few weeks ago. So I ditched that and replaced with this. Have much more confidence in the WD to stand up to the mild abuse I give this array. (I save my photos and some other small documents to it once or twice a week). Dinged one star because 5400rpm is criminally slow. But I understand that thermal constraints are in play here. Also am a bit sour that there is no red series version of this drive. It should only require a firmware and maybe some thermal consideration.

This drive brought my macbook back to life. The problem was the sata cable to this drive and not the drive so i kept the drive also as it was bigger and quiet and fast.

Not the fastest, fanciest or prettiest on the market. But WD is a SOLID Brand. Well worth the money!

Replaced a teamgroup SSD that failed on me. This might be more money but its worth the hours of your time.

This drive was easy to install in the Sanho HyperDrive COLORSPACE UDMA2 Backup Storage Device (SATA Casing Only). It has worked flawlessly to date.

This is a retail kit, so it has the 2-yr warranty. A good replacement for my dying HDD on the laptop.

I have a self-built rig that I’d been using a 1TB HDD in for about 8+ years. I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to this SSD because it was on sale. The SSD is 2.5, so it didn’t fit into the 3.5 drive holders in my PC case. However, an $8 adapter piece fixed this quickly and easily. SSD was very easy to plug into the rig, loaded right up, and is indeed 1TB of space. I now doubled my storage space and the load times on my PC are INSANE!

Works well, no issues. Actually purchased a 2nd one as a backup. Purchased the dock but returned it as it did not work well. Opted for the StarTech USB C to SATA adapter.

The title says it all. But you might not be able to record at the highest speeds (video) and codecs.

I bought this SSD because my old HDD was dying on me and I couldn’t be happier with the WD 1TB Blue. Loading windows, opening games and multiple browsers up, everything runs so fast and smooth!
