I would give it 10 Stars If I could. The price was good, it works good, and the attachments were good. Just as a warning, don’t tighten the sanding drum too much. I had to learn that the hard way and break three of them. It ran smoothly and is compatible with most Dremel™ accessories. It goes from 1,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm and then it goes to max. If you at all think you may be able to use this, then buy it. You won’t regret it! I would by again (and again… and again)

This little tool does the same job as the one with the famous name and costs a lot less. It comes in a nice case. The flex shaft is handy for getting in tight places. It is good for drilling close to the edge in cabinets where regular drills won’t have clearance. It includes two drill bits, sanding discs, polishers, cutting discs and grinding attachments. The motor runs quietly and smoothly. The speed can be adjusted. The power cord has a good strain relief. I used it to clean the contacts when changing the batteries in my solar lights. I look forward to getting creative on some wood carving

So far, so good. Not a heavy duty tool by any means, so long as you stay within its means – it’s perfect.

I have owned an expensive Dremel for over 20 years. This Wen rotary tool is just as good at a fraction of the price. And it includes the flex shaft and beautiful case. My old Dremel still works fine, but this new Wen will now get the bulk of my usage. The body is solid metal and all of my Dremel accessories fit the Wen. I’m excited to start using it. A great deal at $19.99.

This is so much better than the Dremel! The power switch has a raised wall around it so it is unlikely to be activated accidentally. The variable speed selector is also surrounded by a raised wall. The speed selector is not a sliding tab (BAD design, Dremel!) – it’s a rotary selector from 1 to 7, with tactile stops at each center. The product comes with the flex shaft at about the same price as Dremel’s product without the flex shaft. And ample selection of bits to get you started on most projects.

This is the WEN 23103 variable speed rotary tool. This tool comes with a nice selection of accessories (100+), a flex shaft, and carrying case. Photo 1 shows how the tool comes packaged. Photo 2 shows the box with the accessories, (including polishing wheels, sanding bands, drill bits, diamond-coated bits, stone grinding bits, a dressing stone, cut-off wheels, sanding discs, 1/8” collet, 3/32” collet, wrench, and appropriate mandrels.Bit changing is typical for this type of tool—you hold down the spindle lock and tighten or loosen the collet with the supplied wrench. The 1/8” collet is pre-installed in the tool.I think the hardest task for a rotary tool is cutting off metal, and this is one of the main tasks for which I use this type of tool. I connected the Flex Shaft (easy to do) and used one of the supplied cut-off wheels, on a 6-32 machine screw (see Photo 3). This worked fine. Next, I thought I’d go after a 3/8” piece of all-thread (Photo 4). This was more difficult for the cut-off wheels, it took four to accomplish the task (see Photo 5—the one on the left is a new one for reference, the others are the ones used to complete the cut). The important thing is that the tool never bogged down and handled rather nicely. The actual ease of cutting is more a function of the quality of the accessories. Use high-quality cutting accessories and the tool will have no problem. After the cutting, I tried several sanding and grinding accessories and had no problems. When it came to drilling, I found out that the Flex Shaft had a considerable amount of run-out. When I put a known-straight drill bit directly in the tool, there was no run-out. Thinking it may be a collet issue, I swapped collets between the tool and Flex Shaft with no change in results. I contacted Wen to see if they knew what the problem could be. Wen’s position is that the flex shaft, because of the nature of the rotating shaft inside a rubber tube, run-out is unavoidable. They recommend installing drill bits directly into the tool and not use the flex shaft for drilling. Engraving, sanding, and similar functions can be done with the flex shaft. This attitude is consistent with my tests. The flex shaft did seem to work well enough with the non-drilling accessories. And truth be told, I’ve never used a rotary tool for drilling anyway—that’s what I have a drill press and cordless drills for. Overall, I’d say you get a lot for your money with this tool kit and recommend it.

great product does same fuctions as a dremel for a fraction of the priceI give it 4* only because I cant get the bits to tighten enough to stay secure in the flex shaftthe flex shaft seems to be the achilles heel

Just as good as its $19.99 twin. This model has a little more power and the attachment seems a little bit better. Overall it is a great tool. Don’t waste your money on the big dollar models! Also good job to Wen for making some great tools for people on a budget! All of my Wen tools have out lasted my dewalt and porter cable tools.
