I like the idea of this product a lot. There is a need for it in garage workshops. Professionals purchase far more advanced and expensive dust collection systems. But, the average DIY person who works out of his garage or carport can benefit from a dust collector that catches a lot of the dust. Not all but a lot. This product has real potential. The motor sounds strong and it pulls the air in with ease. But, and this is a big but, it must be able to connect with your tools. This is where you will have to invest some time and effort. WEN does make a 4-inch hose that will connect with the intake port of the dust collector. However, the next issue is finding step downs to attach to your tools. This is where it can get challenging. I contacted WEN and told them that I liked their product. But, how do I use it without some sort of hose collection system being made available? I especially felt that they should make a collection system that works for their tools at the minimum. I have quite a few WEN tools and I measured the dust collection ports and they are all different. They go from 1 3/8 inch to 2 1/2 inch. WEN says that because all tools and all manufacturers have different sizes it is very difficult to make a hose collection system that is universal. However, they did say that they were working on the concept of creating one for their own tools. Home Depot does sell a WEN Universal Dust Extractor Hose for this product. It is a separate purchase and does not come with the Dust Collector motor and bag. At the very least this would be an additional requirement unless you have some hoses that will fit. Some 4-inch hoses, which this uses, are outside diameter and others are inside diameter. This is 4 inches outside diameter. Once you have the hose, it is up to you to find ways to step it down to the tools you want to attach it to. There are many online as well as hardware store options. A lot, if not most of this will be trial and error. It is my sincere hope that WEN does come out with a hose dust extraction system that can be purchased as a separate add on and that will work with a multitude of tool dust outlets. As I mentioned I very much like this concept for the DIY person. I decided to give this product an overall rating of 5 even though the hose issue concerns me. I realize that there are others out there who might not find this to be an issue at all and will easily be able to find a solution. Once operational this product can keep a substantial amount of saw dust out of your work space. It will not alleviate the need for a dust mask, when appropriate, but it will keep your work space cleaner. I look forward to the hose dust extraction system that I am sure WEN will develop. This product comes with wheels that work well for moving it around and two of the wheels lock to hold it in place.

I like how versatile the fan is, it can be mounted in any position to suite your needs and moves air well. The downside is its very loud, way to loud. It is far louder than my 32″ shop vent fan and air compressor. It gets a 3 star rating for that. I’ll be looking for a quieter fan.

Works very well, but was surprised that the collector bag does not have a zipper, so you have to remove the screw clamp, take off the bag, and empty the contents through the 4″ hole. In short, I would indeed recommend this product to a friend, but would bring the latter to their attention.

Got this because I did not have space for a biger unit. I now have it hooked up to my Table saw and Bandsaw. I reduced my hose lines down to 2 1/2″ from the 4″to connect to both with Shut off Gates. I have the 10′ of 4″ hose out of the collector then reduce down at the end of the hose. This increase the suction at my Equipment and then alow’s for the dust to expand when it hits the 4″ hose to break it up before it goes through the collector blades. By doing this I have not had a clugg at the collector intake so far. I did have to remove the intake hose 2 times before doing this to remove cluggs at the intake safty screen. This has also reduce my dust in the Garage By 80% with really makes the wife happy. So its a win win for me.

This was perfect for my small format woodshop. This dust collector was simple to set up and use.Only negative was the metal mesh right in front of the intake fan. This clogs really easily and will affect performance. Luckily, it is very easy to remove. This was my only modification to the system and it has been working like new ever since. If you are a hobby woodworker or have a small shop like I do, this budget friendly dust collection system should definitely be considered as a strong contender.

The machines in my small shop are spread out too far to make central dust collection practical at a reasonable price. These little collectors have plenty of power to service individual machines, especially if the distance to machines is kept short, so I have bought several and placed them close enough to service to one or two machines each. Rather than invest in blast gates, I just move the line from one machine to the next. I am not engaged in heavy production, so the little bit of time lost in change-over is not a problem. As others have noted, if this collector is used with machines that produce sizable chips rather than just fine sawdust, such as a planer or router table, it will plug up quickly unless you insert a Dust Deputy or other such device in line between the machine and the Wen collector. But so long as you create this type of setup, the collector does a great job for very low money, even factoring in the cost of the Dust Deputy, etc.

I think the saw works as advertised. It has good suction and is about half the price of other entry level dust collection systems. I have a small shop in my basement with small runs to my work areas, so I think this will meet my needs.

My first dust collectot and it’s great! Way more powerful than i expected. Not super loud, pretty compact and big bag.

This was my first try at dust collection other than a shop vac. I paired this with a dust devil cyclone separator. 1 hp seems insufficient for this. I’m sure it would be fine connected directly to a single tool.

Although it works, I question the CFM that it is rated at.

used it on my miter saw, table saw, and bench belt sander. works well with these tools but not on a wen bench planer. screen on dust collector input clogged quickly with small pcs of wood before i realized what was happening. I know I am not supposed to remove the screen but what else can i do. as long as it is only sawdust that it picks up it works great. have never had a dust collector before, always used shop vacs and a box fan with a filter, but have been able to see dust floating around the garage. the air looks cleaner using the dust collector.

The unit absolutely met my expectations! Very pleased. Home Depot’s shipping times? Not so much. Home Depot’s policy of not allowing me to use my military discount on mail orders? Nope.

This small dust collector is a great value and works very well for my shop.

Was smaller than I expected so the volume of air is not as much as I’d hope but it will work for what I’m using it for. This item would be good for a few machines or basic clean up of dust.
