Great unit for a drill press or table saw. Will not work on a planer, has a cheap little squirrel cage blower wheel that will plug up with longer shavings. The bag doesn’t have a zipper to empty it either. I have to buy another dust collector for my planer now

I had a problem with the impeller being warped a bit causing vibration.A phone call to WEN’s support line solved my problem. A new impeller is being shipped, no questions asked. GREAT support. I highly recommend this product and this company.

The Wen dust collector is easy to assemble, with just the need to attach the casters and then clamp on the dust bag. One minor glitch was that the instructions say that the casters attach with two washers and two nuts, but only one washer (and the two nuts) was provided. The casters will go on without the second washers, but it is probably better to have them. A pack of 6 washers is $1.19 at Home Depot.The dust bag clamps on the output duct with a supplied band clamp and is held securely. In use, the collector is not overly noisy and it moves a lot of air. You will need to buy hoses or pipes to connect the input to whatever you are collecting dust from. The caster base can be removed for wall mounting.

This review is for the 5.7 amp WEN dust collector. This is generally a good product for handyman individuals who want to limit dust in their workshop areas for woodworking activities where space for a larger-sized cyclone-type collector is not there. This product is not satisfactory for collecting wood shavings or even relatively small-sized wood chips as all material collected either goes through the fan or ends up blocking the screen ahead of the fan. Most everything about 1/2-inch or larger collects on the screen ahead of the fan, blocking airflow and requiring removal of the suction hose to clean the screen for the unit to remain effective. Shop vacuums and most shop dust collectors put the filter bag ahead of the fan so that is not an issue. I chose this product knowing these limitations. I use it to collect sawdust from my table saw and compound miter saw. Overall, for that purpose, I find it adequate and rate it “good”. Despite the high motor speed of 4500 rpm, the product is relatively quiet during operation when compared to my shop vacuum that I had used previously for that purpose. For best use of limited space, this product can be wall- or shelf-mounted, as delivered, my choice being shelf-mounting. I purchased WEN Model No. 28221, 20-foot long hose from The Home Depot to facilitate use. WEN does a great job with packaging and overall product quality from my experience, having owned their products for decades, this product a welcome addition.

The unit is quieter than my shop vac, but it doesn’t suck as well as my shop vac. I have it hooked up to my table saw and a lot of dust still escapes. Its better than nothing, but if I could go back, I would buy the bigger one

Eventually wall mounted it. In either case, it is a little load, but normally when in use, it is because a power tool is also on, so noise devices help for both. Nice suction.
