Remember when you could turn your own table legs. Fill your house with as many table legs as you can with the WEN 12 in. x 18 in. 5-Speed Wood Lathe. With 5 different operating speeds, you’ll be able to turn workpieces at 520, 900, 1400, 2150, or 3400 rotations per minute. Super easy to assemble. Just learned from WEN they will have an extension available for this model. Cant wait.

Runs well, quiet, and plenty of power for it’s size. Motor seems to run a little on the warm side, but if one keeps an eye on it I dont see any long term issues. I have worked it hard and light, lots of bang for the buck

Perfect. Fully assembled. Turns large logs no problem. Just need sharp tools. I have had no bogging down issues.

Good for Starter Lathe But doesn’t have enough power for bigger bowls

Very satisfied

Not a Jet or Delta, lacks power. But this machine is well built and you can’t beat it for the money. I’ve turned a few bowls, french rolling pins and a small baseball bat so far.

It is well made for the price. You have to take the orange paint off the top of the tool rest or you’ll find it gets on your chisels. I have finished a few projects so far and I am happy with this tool so far

My main purpose for this lathe is a backup lathe for buffing and painting and it was a good buy.

Great lathe! I’m a beginner, but this lathe will likely be all I will ever need. It is designed to take an extension so if I want to do larger projects in the future, that’s all I will need. Set up quickly and easily. Very satisfied so far.

Very happy with this lathe. Would have given 5 stars if the bed were longer as I believe it has the power to turn longer pieces of wood.

Very pleased with this lathe. Set up and use is a breeze. A++

Basically this is a good lathe for the money. Made of cast iron, it is heavy, doesn’t wobble or jump around unless it is set too fast or you have a very uneven piece on the spindle. The motor does get hot fairly quickly. Adjusting the speed is fairly quick and easy, 4 to 5 min.

I have had the smaller Wen 6 inch lath for a year now and it has been fun to work with. I find that is a little under powered for some projects, I have to constantly restart it because of lack of power. That is why I decided to move up a notch. This one being belt driven and bigger motor has more then enough power for my projects (for now).I can see in about a year I will probably move up to a larger capacity. This one is going to be a great learning machine I have already turned a couple of 8 inch bowls with no problems. Did not even have to bolt the lathe down to the work bench like the little one. Very good intermediate lathe. Would have given it 5 stars but still getting used to changing speeds got use to the rheostat on the little one.
