I have used a portable jigsaw for curved and interior wood cuts for many years, but those days are over. This bench mounted scroll saw allows me to move the woodwork instead of moving my jigsaw, and this allows far more accuracy in both edge and interior wood cuts. The 16″ arm clearance and 16″X10″ work table size have proved quite adequate. I also really like the integrated air pump that keeps my work area clear while I am cutting. The controls on the saw which allow on/off operation, making angle cuts (up to 45 degrees), tightening the blade, and changing strokes per minute (550 to 1600 strokes/min) are well placed and easy to use. Removing or replacing the blade for doing inside the woodwork scrolling, (or just changing the pinned or pinless blades) is done easily without needing tools. Three blades are included. Using only 1.2 amps it plugs in to my standard workbench outlet and is ecologically friendly. I have not used it to cut thicker wood but it nice to know it will cut up to 2″ vertically. I had become fairly proficient with my jigsaw but this is making my wood scrolling both easier and more accurate. It is a very welcome addition to my garage.

This saw is an excellent value for the money. I wanted something that would be able to handle the fine blades (2/0) I used in marquetry and this saw does that just fine. The blade changes are easy to do and the saw holds the fine pin-less blades I use securely.Setting the table angle just right for the marquetry pieces to fit nicely means that you don’t want to change the table angle unless you have to. I discovered that with the table angled I could not open the side panel for access to the lower blade holder, so I removed the side panel completely. In addition, I found the holes in the table are large enough for small parts to drop into, so I covered the table with a thin sheet of melamine with just a small hole to pass the blade through. I typically run this saw near its lowest speed and at such low speeds there is nearly no vibration. At higher speeds you will need to secure the saw base to your workbench and might find the level of vibration to be an issue.

Saw works great! Really like the variable speed control as it allows to cut soft, thin balsa without tearing it up. 1/4 inch plywood is a breeze with the higher speed. The dust blower is adequate and the work hold down is adjustable to obtain the correct pressure on the work piece. Have noticed that the center piece is a bit lower than the table as noted in other reviews. This can be fixed by laying a piece of material (thin cardboard or other product) under the piece. The vacuum attachment is nice!

It’s ok. I bought it to replace a mid-80’s Craftsman scroll saw that’s motor had died. This saw was cheaper than repairing the old motor…. which should have told me something. It works, although it seems underpowered, and it is very light.- I managed to move the saw while feeding a larger sheet of wood in, so I’ll probably end up securing it to my bench top with bolts. If I was doing it over again, I’d want to browse saws in person rather than online and get something sturdier.

I’m very happy with this WEN scroll saw. I have never used a scroll saw before but something I’ve always wanted to have for my crafting of wood plaques. So, my first try out—–it turned out great. The instructions to setup the saw were easy to follow and easy to do. I found very little vibration with the saw. In fact I only had mine sitting on a metal work bench (not screwed in). I didn’t experience any shifting or movement of the saw. I will say, the owners guide recommends adhering the saw to the work surface.I also, think the saw was pretty quiet. As I said, I’ve never used a scroll saw before and while I agree there’s a learning curve using it (as stated in the instructions), I was successful in cutting out a 6″ x 3″ seashell pattern from 1/2″ plywood, without breaking the blade. My pattern had one sharp turn and a bunch of curves. It took me about 10 minutes to cut out the shell. I don’t know whether that’s a reasonable amount of time or a long time, though.I’m very happy with this WEN saw and the results it produced.

This WEN variable speed scroll saw is a great addition to my woodshop. It allows me to produce creative wood projects that are impossible to produce using other power saws. It’s inexpensive and has many features found in other saws costing two or three times as much. It has a 9/16 inch stroke and cuts through 2 inch thick hard woods quickly and easily. The motor speed can be simply adjusted with the turn of a knob. Blade changes are quick and easy thanks to a fold-down side panel and require no tools. Not all was well with this saw. WEN, if you’re listening, all three of the base hold down screw holes are partially blocked by a part of the saw, making a straight shot with a driver impossible. This issue could have been avoided with some engineering forethought.Notable features:16 inch throat depth550 to 1600 SPM variable speed 1.2 amp motor2 inch cut capacity at 90 degrees45 degree left table tilt with built-in angle gaugeAccepts pinned, unpinned and spiral bladesThumb screw blade adapter for tool-free blade changesIncludes three spare blades and a hex wrench27.5 lb. weightAluminum non-corrosive table1-1/2 inch dust collection portAdjustable blade sawdust blowerLockable power switchTwo year warranty
