Made from heavy duty powder-coated cast iron, the WEN Cross Vise grips tightly onto your workpieces, providing over 1900 pounds of clamping force. The 4.25 by 1.25 jaws open up to 4.125 inches wide. Make minor adjustments along either axis with the onboard hand wheels. Each hand wheel features machined 0.1 mm increments, each full turn representing 3 mm of travel. The vise moves a full 5.8 inches (148 mm) along the x-axis and 6 inches along the y-axis (150 mm), making it the perfect companion for woodworkers and metalworkers alike. The fixed jaw features a V-shaped groove to hold round objects either vertically or horizontally while the removable handles help users easily install the vise into tight spaces. With five 1/2-inch mounting brackets positioned around the outside edge of the vise’s base, the WEN Cross Vise is compatible with the majority of drill press tables on the market. New out of the box I found the vise to be very difficult to make adjustments. The lateral adjustments were difficult to turn, using just the handle, it was not practical to rotate using the forefinger and thumb to grip the handle. The bolt down ears didn’t line up with the Wen drill press table slots to conveniently position the vise for ease of adjustment of the slides. I loosened the slide tension bolts, lubricated the slide pads and groove, re-tightened tension bolts to the point of just making contact with the rail. The slides worked a little better but not like I expected. Priced about right.

Very heavy, well built. A little stiff on the x,y, controls right out of the box but with a little lube and some use they broke in well. This vice is definitely worth what I paid.

Very good deal for the price. Industrial quality does require some setup. Gave it a good cleaning to remove milling residue, lubricated it, adjusted gib screws to my preference and it worked like a charm. I will be milling mostly wood so this vise is more than adequate for my purposes.
