Remember when you could make fine-tune adjustments with the simple turn of a wheel? The WEN 4.25-Inch Cross Vise provides stable support for your workpieces. Perfect for incremental drilling and other precision work. Attach it to your bench top, your drill press, your work table and more. Made from heavy duty powder-coated cast iron, the WEN Cross Vise grips tightly onto your workpieces, providing over 1900 pounds of clamping force. The 4.25 by 1.25 jaws open up to 4.125 inches wide. Make minor adjustments along either axis with the onboard hand wheels. Each hand wheel features machined 0.1 mm increments, each full turn representing 3 mm of travel. The vise moves a full 5.8 inches (148 mm) along the x-axis and 6 inches along the y-axis (150 mm), making it the perfect companion for woodworkers and metalworkers alike. The fixed jaw features a V-shaped groove to hold round objects either vertically or horizontally while the removable handles help users easily install the vise into tight spaces. With five 1/2-inch mounting brackets positioned around the outside edge of the vise’s base, the WEN Cross Vise is compatible with the majority of drill press tables on the market. And because it’s a WEN product, your cross vise comes backed by a two-year warranty, a nationwide network of skilled service technicians and a friendly customer help line all to make sure you remember WEN.

The product was good. One of the axis of movement was very still even after loosing the adjustment. I had to disassemble the code and file adjustment plate.

Received unit and took it apart, cleaned and lubricated it as recommended in directions and feedback by others. Unit operates smoothly now and appears to function correctly. I have not mounted it to my drill press and tested it just yet but believe that it will work fine for the projects that I do.

This 4.25” width is a prefect size. after adjustments this device works great. Should have purchased one years ago.

Industrial strength!! it’s a n average vise, the slides leave a lot to be desired. BUT it is worth more than U pay for. IT is not for precision sliding, as U would with any milling machine.

The vise is nice when trying to drill exact holes over and over. In drilling just single holes it sure is a lot easier than trying to manually manuver the work piece into the correct position and then hold it while you start drilling. I do not have very large pieces to drill out but I am sure it could handle larger pieces. I would get this again.

Had to finagle this to work with the Wen 4208 but it should work better with larger presses.

Works great for machining lower receivers out

More than what I was expecting. Built good.

It’s a nice built and good looking vice but the only thing bad about it is it doesn’t turn very well and has a little play in the gear mechanism causing it to be a bit too jerky when using it for milling work.

The handles are a little sloppy

After I adjusted the screws that hold the sliders, it works fine.

The vise has shims and allen screws to snug up the dovetails. The vise was not properly adjusted at the factory, one of the shims was not straight and had to be fix, I also had to buy locally two hex set screws that got broken during the adjustment process. The received hex wrench for the gib hex screws was not the proper size. After several trial and error adjustments, I was able to make it work in an acceptable manner.

Sturdy and useful tool but for non-precise work. Mounts don’t line up well with WEN drill press table, making it difficult to clamp down. X-Y positioning screws have 3-4 of 1/10th (mm) play. Good for average hobbyist or woodwork.

The 2 slides did not work very well. Investigation revealed the problem was the gibs. They stamp the alignment slot rather than drill and as a result the gibs were slightly bent and the punch left a raised spot that rubbed against the slide. Smoothing out the bump, sanding out the bend, and otherwise smoothing things out made a big difference. Put it all back together and carefully align the gibs and things work much better. Oh, and a good oiling helps as well.
