Remember when you could make fine-tune adjustments with the simple turn of a wheel? The WEN 8-3/8 in. Cross Vise provides stable support for your workpieces. Perfect for incremental drilling and other precision work. Made from heavy duty powder-coated cast iron, the WEN Cross Vise grips tightly onto your workpieces, providing over 1900 pounds of clamping force. The 8-1/8 by 2 in. jaws open up to 8-3/8 in. wide. Make minor adjustments along either axis with the onboard hand wheels. Each hand wheel features machined 0.1 mm increments, each full turn representing 4 mm of travel. The vise moves a full 8.5 in. (216 mm) along the x-axis and 9.5 in. along the y-axis (241 mm), making it the perfect companion for woodworkers and metalworkers alike. The fixed jaw features a V-shaped groove to hold round objects either vertically or horizontally. With five 1/2 in. mounting brackets positioned around the outside edge of the vise’s base, the WEN Cross Vise is easy to install onto your favorite table or workbench. And because it’s a WEN product, your cross vise comes backed by a two-year warranty, a nationwide network of skilled service technicians and a friendly customer help line all to make sure you remember WEN.

MONSTER vise, fit my (Harbor Freight) floor standing drill press table perfectly using the four side tangs. The X-Y threaded rods on mine weren’t well lubed, but everything else seems awesome.

This quality built industrial strength seventy plus pound behemoth is a very nice vise. It went directly onto my drill press table from the box. For years I have wanted to be able to precisely drill patterns of holes in both wood and metal. This vise will meet that want. It operates smoothly and precisely at ninety degrees in both directions. I have not attempted to determine the level of precision but the movement and lack of any looseness provides a sense of accuracy well beyond any of my normal needs. See attached photos showing the old way of doing this using a stop and fence and crude measurements vs the new way with the vise and indexed crank adjustments. The jaw is big enough to hold any project I have ever done that involved pattern drilling-actually it has the largest vise jaw I own. It is a great addition to my workshop.

Big and heavy enough to make a solid platform for drilling or machining. Since I have old Datsuns some parts are not available and you have to make your own brackets to install newer replacements. I gave this a work out making a new transmission mount, radiator mounts, and heat shields for the carburetors. I marked everything out on the metal clamped it in the vise and was able to move the work piece around to line up the drill holes exactly where I wanted and the piece didn’t walk around while getting the hole started. The pieces turned out great and I didn’t have to massage them to fit like before.

It was a lot heavier than I expected but well worth it. Works great for small and big jobs

Had a minor hiccup and box was pretty beat up when i received it. A piece was broken during shipping but a quick call to factory and they shipped it in a few days. Overall very sturdy and large work area. Make sure drill press is bolted down because it does way about 70 pounds. works well.

This is really heavy duty. I agree with the other reviewer that said it would be best mounted on a press, as many cross slide vises are, its fine benchtop just not as usefull. Plus for me it takes up to much benchtop space. This vise is solid and weighs probably 90 pounds, it has a good size work area with good precision of 1mm, or 4mm per full turn so it relives alot of fine tuning frustration. I was bummed on receiving because one of the lock nuts seemed stripped but I was able to clean it up and get it on, besides that hiccup It does have a 2 year warranty but I see it being a lifetime product. I have a few wen products now, 2 sanders ,planer and bench, I’m finding the prices good and everything so far has worked beyond my expectations.

Nicely made, accuracy looks good out of the box. Needs minor tweaking as it’s a little tight out of the box, but will meet its needs nicely

This vise is an absolute behemoth! The quality of the build and material has me very confident it will still be in the shop long after i retire. The increments are very accurate and it slides will ease depending how you like the tension screws on the side of each track. It came prelubricated and after sliding both tracks end to end one time, it now slides with ease. No instructions were included, but with only the two handles to install, a 5 year old could likely figure it out. This vise has quickly become the most useful tool in the shop. I would definitely give it a 5/5 and I can confidently say my 192 students would as well. Don’t hesitate, just buy it!

The description of this says bench-top vise, but I would suggest the best use of this vise is for a drill press. This vise is a heavy duty 75# vise with 2 dimensional adjusters – left- right and forward – backward. It has lug holes made which can fit many floor drill presses in that the width of the lug holes are about 6.5 inches. I used this on my floor drill press and I was able to use 2 of the 4 lug holes for stability on the drill press. It has the large and strong (3000# grip strength) jaws at about 8 inches wide. The 2 way adjusters are marked out in MM and thousandths of an inch. Normally I use this vise by placing the item to be drilled centered around the intended hole, then with the appropriate drill in the press, exactly center the drill bit by using those 2 way adjusters. If you mount this on a bench, sure you can use the 2 way adjusters, but on a bench what needs that kind of accuracy of alignment as you will be hand holding the drill or tool anyway. That is why it works best on a drill press. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the 2 way adjuster handle hold down bolt/nut can scrape your knuckles if you are not careful when adjusting it. I put some silicone rubber sealant over them so I would not scrape skin off my knuckles during adjustments. This is a real nice heavy drill press vise which I can highly recommend.

this is very well made. it is very heavy. However, I would not want a light weight bench top vise. This is a very nice vise for use with a drill press. I like that it can be bolted down to a drill press platform or any other platform that has groves for attaching the vise or other device. Made of heavy cast iron, this vise has two directional adjustment screws with nice calibrated swivel handles. these adjustment screws make it easy to lineup the part being machined. This vise also has a very good clamping jaw and holds the part being machined very securely.

Very robust product however one slide was binding at the farthest travel. The threaded shaft is defective. Ordered a second item to replace the threaded shaft. Quality control poor on this part
