Remember when power tools were actually powerful? The WEN 15 in. 8.6 Amp Variable Speed Floor Standing Drill Press meets the needs of both home and professional users. This model includes a full 4 in. of stroke capacity, allowing users to drill through materials up to 4 in. thick. With such a large spindle travel, drilling holes through a 4×4 board has never been easier. Adjust our variable speed anywhere from 280 to 1000 RPM with the simple turn of a lever, or make a quick belt adjustment for variable speed ranging from 1000 to 3300 RPM. The digital readout reports the current RPM of the machine for increased accuracy when drilling. The 12 in. x 12 in. cast iron table pivots up to 45 degrees in both directions while the laser pointer ensures precise holes. The chuck with Morse #2 spindle taper accepts bits anywhere from 1/12 to 5/8 in. in size. Cast iron frame and base gives the machine a hefty support system to prevent the drill press from walking or vibrating. The WEN 15 in. This is not a $1,500 drill press but for the money it is a good buy. The variable speed is a nice thing to have. The only reason i gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is the rpm led stays on constantly. I add a main on/off switch to it to be able to turn it off so it doesn’t burn out prematurely.

This Drill Press is built much better than I ever imagined. It arrived at Home Depot strapped to a pallet in perfect condition. I have been drilling Steel, Wood, Aluminum, and even Lead. This thing so far is bullet proof !! I mounted it to a piece of 1″x 26″x 30″ plywood for a flat extra stable base, works perfect. Two people required while mounting powerhead to vertical tube…..

The WEN 15″ Floor Standing Drill press has worked very well for me. It was easy to assemble with no flaws in it. First project had to adjust to drill holes at a specific angle in 2 x 4’s at a specific distance apart. Setup was easy and they came out awesome. Love this drill press.

First off, looking at some reviews, if you can’t assemble a drill press then chances are you probably don’t need to use one. Assembled press in 20 mins. Everything was packed well and worked right out of the box. For the price, what more could you ask for? This is the same drill press that has other manufactures names stamped on it but with a far better price point.

I’ve only had this drill press for a short period of time but has performed wonderfully so far. Came in two boxes, was easy to assemble and is as described.

It is not a precision drill press,Period. Not for small holes either. Mine, measures 0.002″ oversized holes It is basically what U pay for. The features R Xellent..such as centering with laser and variable speed at the touch of a hand. Again…D PRECISION is not there. 4 me that’s a bit disappointing.

while assembling the drill press I found the table support had not been drilled and tap for the locking handle and could not complete the assembly. I contacted WEN via email and Agent Francisco Hernandez called me with in a couple of days. I gave him the info he required and the shipped another table support which arrived several days later. I tried to install the new table support but it would not fit, the table support I received was for a different unit and was too small. I contacted Francisco and explained the problem and he had another table support sent out which arrived in a couple of days. This fit, however after assembling the unit the instructions say to use the slotted fork wrench to adjust the support table angle, but there was no such wrench packed with the drill press. Sent Francisco an email asking about the wrench and he said that the wrench is not included with the drill press. Seems strange that a wrench to adjust the table would not be included, every other tool I have ever purchased that require a specific wrench for adjustment or replacing blades, discs, etc was included with the device, especially since the cost was over $500.00. I hope the quality of this drill press is better than the quality control of their packaging department, time will tell.

This drill press holds a unique place in the market between the benchtop variable speed units and the much more expensive floor standing variable speed units. For the woodworking hobbyists like me, I don’t think you can beat it for the money. Variable speed is a must and it works well, and the built in light and lasers work well too. Plenty of power, capacity and travel. Good quality.

My drill press arrived on time and without a dent or a scratch. I have not measured the run-out but the accuracy has proven very good for my needs and the lasers were right on target out of the box.The LED spotlight could be brighter, but I would have bought it without a light so a minor issue for me.I love, love, love the variable speed feature! No more changing belts for every speed change (or deciding that the setting I’m on is “close enough” because I’m too lazy to get in there and make a change.) With only two available belt positions the primary belt-change question is, “Wood or steel?” Most of my wood drilling is done with the belt set for higher speeds, and steel drilling is done with the belt set for lower speeds. How great is THAT?!! (A significant factor in making my selection.)The up and down table-travel on the column is smooth even with WEN’s 19-lb cross-vise mounted on the table…no chattering or sticking. The 4″ vertical travel of the chuck is much greater than other brands in this price range and was the second significant factor in making my selection. All-in-all I’m very pleased. As to the heaviness of the drill head during assembly, I mounted the foot, column, and table support to a 35″ x 35″ base of 1-1/2″ plywood prior to adding the drill head and just tipped the whole thing down so the column was roughly parallel to the floor…supported it there. I cut the shipping carton down to the level of the Styrofoam block that cradles the drill head and slid the carton up next to the end of the column. Then two old retired people (myself and my wife) lifted the unit about six inches upward and slid it onto the column. I tightened the set screws for safety and we tipped the whole thing upright. Pretty darn easy.

No issues with it so far, it’s an incredible value and the variable speed function is great

The assembly instructions could use some improvement. The help line was helpful. I like the drill press. It is a good tool. The bolt used to adjust the angle of the table should be more accessible. Or change the bolt to a Handel would be great. I used sandbags for weight at the base.

The overall quality is good, but I would have expected it to have been must better fit and finish. The Orange paint on the main housing was smudged and not complete, the drive adjustment speed lever was not properly set, and the pulley housing cover was not fully secure.

I am very happy with the drill press I purchased, easy to put together and works like a well seasoned horse! Perfect for my work. I may get another one cause it works so well!

This Drill Press seems to be a very good quality item for the price. I looked at several brand name drills and this one has the best features over all of them in this price range. Looks just like the Rikon with the same features for about $400 less. It went together easily without any assistance but the head was a little heavy for one person but was able to do it. The only problem during assembly was the gear for the table wouldn’t turn and had to use a punch to adjust the pin that holds it in.

Easy to assemble and use. So far it has worked well on every project piece ive drilled.

We bought this for our robotics team after using a small tabletop drill press for 4 years, and finally deciding the wobble in the drill bit was unacceptable and solvable with a higher quality drill press. It’s not easy to commit to a drill press when shopping online – you can’t see it or touch it. So reviews like the ones before mine helped a lot. This purchase was definitely a good call! We knew this one had the laser cross sight, but I didn’t realize that the variable speed was a external lever I could control on-the-fly, with a digital speed readout. What a slick feature! And the spindle is super-smooth. Meaning no wobble in the drill bits. Our team of middle and high school kids immediately saw the difference, as did us coaches. This was less than twice the cost of the small table-top drill press, and so, so much better. Holes drill faster because they’re aligned better. I would say it is safer, too, because with less wobble in the head, there is less clamping force required. Perhaps I would not be so pleased if I had not tried something worse, but I also have an older floor stand Craftsman at home. It’s not quite as true as this one. You can hear it, too: less noise in the spindle and belts. Definitely two thumbs up!

In a sea of look alike presses with different brand names, but apparently from the same factory this one is “pretty good”. The directions are AWFUL, but Wen helped. Seems to be true, but lacks some quality control. Screws were loose and the depth gauge off. Still, its better than some others.

Great drill press! Easy to assemble with 2 people. Only took about 30 minutes. Drills through 1/8″ steel plate with ease. Everything seems to work great, easy to use. No complaints so far!
