This is an accessory set to be used with the Wen 10″ Sharpening System. These holders will hold a variey of items to sharpen. These include: axes, scissors and knives. They will be held securely thanks to the quality of construction. The pieces are well made with thumb screw to tighten the hold on the blades and quality machining on all the parts.This system will insure that you will be able to keep a consistent angle throughout the process..

Comes packaged so well that it is hard to imagine any set being damaged during shipping. Works well designed for their reasonably priced WEN BG4270 10″ Wet/Dry Sharpening System. The product was everything I hoped for; very well built, works well sharpening knives and scissors. This updated set seems to be a bit more solid and they fixed the knife Sharpener jig, the old versions’ lower clamp down knob was in the way at certain positions. It comes with good clear instructions so you won’t be intimidated. Well done, I’m happy!

Looks very similar to the more expensive brand but performs just as well. Goo clamping strength and sturdy made. Very pleased with product. Make sure to save the foam packing to store the jigs in gou tool drawer.

The first thing I realized when I received my WEN Sharpening Kit for long & short knives, scissors and an axe sharpening jig is that you need a wide/slowly rotating grinding wheel and support bar to properly use the jigs. So, I purchased the WEN BG4270 WET/DRY Sharpener that the jigs were intended to be used with. The WEN wet/dry sharpener has a water-cooled grinding wheel, a leather Stropping wheel and most importantly the Universal Support bar for the jigs. The grinder has 4 mounting hubs (two on top and two on the side). These mounting hubs lock down the “Universal Support” bar required by the fixtures in the Tool Sharpening Kit (WEN 42704A).The clamps for the short and long knife blades securely clamp the knife blade in the jig for sharping. The support ring on the knife jig when pressed against the support bar on the grinder helps to guide the blade across the grinding wheel in a straight line. However, for the blade to pass squarely across the grinding wheel all clamped pieces needs to be square with the grinding wheel. While using the knife jig, I learned the “Universal Support” bar is really a pain to use. Since the knife blade is curved at the end It was easier to hold the jig by hand and move across the face of the grinding wheel freehand. With the grinding wheel rotating away from the sharp edge of the knife I never felt any pressure or tendency to pull the jig out of my hand. By hand holding I could easily rotate the blade and sharpen the blade clear to the tip.I tried the jig for axe and found the similar situation. When using the axe jig, it was more effort to hold the axe in the jig than to just hold the axe in my hands and freehand move the axe across the face of the grinding wheel. I probably won’t be using the axe jig much in the future.I did not try to use the scissor jig. My scissors are all sharp at this time. I was concerned that at my current skill level I would be not be able to use the scissor jig properly and would just ruin a good pair of scissors.The short and long knife blades jigs work well and will be a good tool. I won’t be using the axe jig because it is really just a hassle to use. The jury is still out on the scissor jig. I’ve learned that blade sharpening is a skill that needs time to be developed. Overall, I would rate the WEN Sharpening Kit at a 3 level. Two of the jigs worked well. The axe jig is not required to sharpen an axe on the grinding wheel. Currently with my skill level I was afraid I would just screw up a good pair of scissors so I didn’t test the scissor jig. I would recommend 2 out of 4 of the jigs. The WEN wet/dry sharpener/grinder seems to work well but was purchased separately and is not part of the Jig Kit review.

This sharpening accessory is really a necessity for the Wen Sharpening machine. It provides jigs to sharpen knives (both small and large), scissors and an axe. One criticism I read on this kit is the tightening screw for the knives stuck out too far causing interference when sharpening. This has since been corrected as the photo shows. The packaging provides a nice organizer for a drawer or bench top.

Overall I’m very happy with this product. I watched a few YouTube videos to learn how to use it. With just a little bit of practice I was able to get some very abused knives razor sharp. The only thing that bothered me is the mess. You will get water all over the place.

This four piece sharpening system kit works if you have jig. The four piece are all made of metal and can be easily setup on the jig. The kit is high quality and all the pieces are easily fit in the box. Too bad they didn’t include a bag or box to hold the all the pieces. You can sharpen almost any household items from a knife to a scissor and even an axe.

Overall was what I expected and worked well.The axe / hatchet holder does work as well as I hopped.Also look into chaining the one screw for a smaller one to get closer.
