Very nice sander. Great for getting in corners. Wen makes very nice tools and their price point is right on. You will definitely be satisfied.

I bought this because I use a similar HF tool at work to clean up sheet metal edges in holes and slots. It will fit into places that would normally require a file or rasp, and it is faster. Compared to the one we have at work, this Wen is actually less money, has a better warranty, and if it breaks there is some hope of support/repair parts. My work has a Wen benchtop drill press that so far, has survived two years of production use, and the one time I needed a part for it (the quill spring broke), I called the Wen service number, got a real, live human being, and he sent the part to me for free. No hassles, no returning the whole drill press, etc. I don’t use this tool a lot at home, but it is one of those tools that when it is needed, almost nothing else will do. It is surprisingly handy when you need to clean up edges on just about any material, whether straight, curved, external or (especially) internal. And, compared to the big-name alternatives it is CHEAP.

works great if anything i would like to see the speed be variable it only seemed to have one speed ….full speed if not careful can sand down wood too good and cut into it,

As a career machinist using proper air powered Dynafiles costing hundreds of dollars; I really was not expecting much from this thing. I really was expecting it to bog down but, turns out, the weak point is only the included belts. In fact, it seems to maintain speed better than the Dynafiles. And I’m very impressed with how easy the belt changes are, very well thought out design. It also stays put even when you catch the side of the belt on something, I’ve yet to pop it off track in the past ~month or so I’ve been using it. The only thing I wish this had was a trigger controlled speed control, the switch and thumbwheel make it a two-handed operation. Other than that, it’s about as good as it can get. Totally unexpected.

I only gave it 4 stars because I haven’t really had enough time to properly evaluate it. So far it seems to work well. It appears to be a very good value.

This 2.5 lb. electric file sander is the best file I have ever used so far. It comes with 3 different grits of sandpaper, 80, 120 and 320. You can adjust it’s speed by a dial that goes from 1 – 9. It is easy to use and control and it even adjusts up to 55 degrees. I have been been using it to put a 45 degree angle on my deck railings. I had some built up stain spots that I could not remove from several deck boards. Surprisingly, this tool was able to remove the built up right down to the wood surface without marring the wood. It easily knocks off burrs on wood, plastic and PVC. I haven’t tried it on metal yet. Oh, and I had some damaged lattice and this small tool was able to easily file out the rough inside edges. I absolutely love this inexpensive tool. WEN makes nice tools.

We are refinishing our oak kitchen cabinets. Basically we are just sanding down the bad spots on the finished wood, lightly sanding the rest, and then applying a new coat of finish. The have several little nooks and crannies which have required a lot of hand sanding. I discovered this tool and thought I would give it a try. It does an amazing job. It can reach into corners where my vibrating sander can’t reach. The variable speed is nice because I can adjust how aggressive I can go against each section. I did not use the vacuum port, having a vacuum hose attached would really limit the agility of this tool.

Was surprised how well it works for the price I use it to grind welds down on sheet metal makes the welds look as smooth as what you see on TV

Great for getting into narrow spots that need to be sanded. Would be a little better if you were able to get to a flat level spot when you can hold the handle below the piece being sanded.

I needed to sand through multiple layers of cracking paint around 12 window casings. These casings consisted of multiple tiered layers of wood, giving it a detailed touch. However, sanding these down to wood proved to be a challenge. This WEN sander made the job super easy by quickly removing ALL the layers of paint. This sander was also able to get into tight corners and spaces. Lower grit sandpaper allowed me to shape the wood where needed. I really like the fact that this is a corded sander, so I didn’t have to worry about running out of battery juice, since I had SO many windows to do in one sitting. If not for this WEN sander, sanding all this down by hand would have been tedious and pain-staking. With the WEN sander, I got the job done in record time. Also, changing the belt is super easy. Just press the tip in and it locks in place. Replace the belt and press the release button and you’re back in business. This WEN sander is amazingly light and had no issues using it all day long. The variable speed setting is nice because you can set it to the speed you want, then move the sander along the areas that need sanding, without worrying about how deep to press a trigger. Very handy tool to have around!
