A great little sander. I like a belt sander for fast material removal. I glued a variety of wood and thicknesses together to make a bowl and this little sander quickly helped me level the uneven spots out I did not notice any loss of power on the hard spots with heavy pressure. I don’t have a plainer yet. I still had to finish on a flat board but that took little effort. Sander is a bit noisy but that’s ok. The belt change is really fast & easy, just flip the side lever up replace belt and flip it down to tighten. Centering of belt is really simple too. It actually only takes a few seconds to change a belt. Only comes with one belt so keep a variety of grits on hand. Take the time every now & then to either use an air hose on low pressure to gently blow out the dust or vacuum the motor vents for longer life.

WEN 6 Amp Heavy Duty Belt Sander with Dust Bag, 3 in. x 18 in. is something I was looking to get for a time now. I have a number of sanders, but could use a belt sander. Its not something I will be using all the time, but when you have a project nothing handles it like a belt sander. Belt sanders are faster and aggressive, more so than other ones. This is not a large belt sander as I remember them, two handed jobs. Its really a small one in size and light weight, but does the job and is easy to control. The old big one’s you had to control with both hands, this one doesn’t have that problem at all. Two hands are good, but I used it with one hand and was in control. It comes with a trigger start button and a lock out so it will run without needing to hold down the trigger. So keeping it running is a convenience when guiding it. It comes with one belt so you’ll soon need to get others. Changing the belt is a snap, push on the orange clasp on the side, it loosens the belt that just slips off. Slide a new one on and adjust the orange tracking knob on the front roller. The tracking knob keeps the belt centered over the flat metal plate underneath the belt on the tool. Its really easy to do. The sander comes with a small dust bag, no shop vac connection, but it does do a decent job. The sander itself is easy to control with a big handle on the front and one on the back to guide it over the work. What I found great is it will lie flat upside down on the work bench to change the belt or to use it as a kind of table sander. To that point I put my level on it in that configuration, on its back the level vial was spot on level. Add a clamp down and you have a great table sander for small projects. When using it up against the wall, I did find one side could be put down flush to the wall, but in the other direction the gear bump prevented it from going flush, out about a quarter inch. Aside from that small design issue, this a good belt sander for its size at a good price.

Only had it for short time but it performed well. Nice sander. Wen has reliable tools. I have had a power drill for 15+ years and it’s still working good.

I give this product 3 stars due to the fact that I only got to use it for a total of three days. On one hand I was upset that it broke so quickly. On the other hand I was using it rather heavily on a project that I was doing. But before the belt sander gave up, the dust bag zipper broke on the first day rendering it useless. I felt as if the price was more than fair, I just wish that it could of lasted longer. Home Depot took it back and gave me an instore credit, which I reinvested into a more expensive, and a more popular brand name belt sander. The brand name belt sander in my opinion does not work as well, but will most likely last longer than the Wen.
