Remember when your sander was a stander? Smooth out intricate contours or remove material quickly with the WEN 6 x 48-Inch Belt and 9-inch Disc Sander with Stand. The heavy-duty body provides enough weight to prevent walking and vibration during use while the steel stand keeps sanding surfaces elevated over three feet off the ground. Our powerful 9A motor prevents the unit from bogging down under even the largest of loads, providing a belt speed of 2700 feet per minute and a disc speed of 3450 rotations per minute. The tension quick release lever gives you the power to switch and replace sandpaper grits as needed without wasting any time, making belt changes easier than ever. The spacious 11-3/4 x 6 inch disc table bevels up to 45 degrees while the belt tilts anywhere from 0 to 90 degrees to accommodate the needs of your particular project. The adjustable 9-3/4 x 5-3/4 inch sanding support doubles as both a work table and a work stop depending on the orientation of the belt. This package also includes an 80-grit sanding disc, an 80-grit sanding belt, a miter gauge for angled sanding, and two dust ports for minimal cleanup. And, because its a WEN product, your purchase comes backed by a two-year warranty, a nationwide network of skilled service technicians and a friendly customer help line. I have used this sander very little but I expect that it will suit my wood carving projects quite well. The carton arrived without any damage. The delivery guy was a little surprised with the weight. I would not have been able to move it without my two-wheel hand truck. Assembly was quite easy except lifting the sander onto the stand. That is a challenge for one person. I added casters to the legs to make it easier move around the shop. A wheel kit would have been nice. Adjusting the tabletop stops/guides is a little challenging and time consuming. I think it will get easier with use. I will be starting a carved grandfather clock project at the end of summer and I believe this tool will handle the precision miter cuts nearly invisible.

I think the unit is a good investment for the money. I had problems with the belt tracking properly but I called Wen and they were very helpful. They send me an additional lock knob for the belt tracker to lock it in place and it has worked ever since. The customer service was great.

This is an excellent sander. Just make sure you use an extension chord that is rated for the amps required. I am using it way more than I thought I would.

This a beast of a machine ! Only reason for only four stars is that I have only had it a short time. Can only hope it will last. Very heavy cast iron machine. Invest in a mobile base if you plan on moving it.

I think it is a good machine but could use a bigger dust port on nine inch disc and a little more amps than 9 amps if it had a little more power in the belt it would be a great machine and keep the rpms that it has that part is good

I don’t have any one brand I go to. I have dewalt, Ryobi, Rigid, etc etc. I buy what I feel will be the best value for my needs that’s available. I bought the Wen oscillating sander and it’s been a good unit. Looking for a bench grinder I came across the variable speed wen and decided to give it a try and it’s been excellent. So needing a 6×48 inch sander I took a search to see what was available. For the money Wen seemed like the better choice. In my opinion this is a great machine for the money. I know there are some highly regarded machines out there but they also want hundreds more. As a hobby woodworker, I’m impressed with this machine. With it being well under 300 dollars I consider it a real bargain.

To start with the package was damaged to the point that the styrofoam was busted up. Thought that was going to be an issue, but it wasn’t. Went together pretty easy. Machine seems to be a beast removing wood. Looking forward to using this on projects. Did weld casters on the stand.

The sander is great, my only dis-like is the adhesive disk. Would be so much easier to change if it were Velcro. Like I said the sander it’s self is great. Nice stand too. Heavy, will not vibrate around.

The first unit was defective (bad capacitor) motor had trouble starting .The second one clearly was reconditioned in a used box ,paint touched up and worn off where it was previously assembled. It works great but I suspect the motor problem might have been widespread .

This is one heavy duty beast with no slowing down on anything that I sanded VERRY IMPRESSIVE.

It is decent. My only complaints are the plastic dust catchers. I didn’t install them because they are more of an afterthought and plastic. The actual unit is beefy and should last a very long time. Putting the 90 on the main belt is not convenient but if you take the time one turn at a time it is sturdy. A quick detach would be nice.

Easy to assemble with two people, would have been a pain with a single person. Great sander otherwise!

Only used twice so rating is preliminary.

So far happy with the performance, wish it had variable speed. Throws allot of dust even with shop vacs attached.
