Excellent product. Best of both worlds. A spindle sander and a belt sander with a nice shelf to keep everything square.

This WEN oscillating sander with both spindle and belt sanders should cover almost all your shop needs. I haven’t used all of its features yet but the spindle sanding works great. Setup is easy and the sanding dust seems to be efficiently removed to your dust collector.

This is not meant for exacting work (eg, the belt is not quite perpendicular to the table). If precision is not critical, then it’s very practical. We’ll just have to wait and see how long this lasts…

Does everything it should. No complaints

So far I’ve used the sander for one project that required the belt and several spindles. It works very well. I gave it a 4 because it’s early in my use of the product we’ll see where I wind up after using it more. I’ve never used a spindle sander before and this was very easy to use. The belt sander definitely moves fast so you do need to be aware of what grit sandpaper you’re using so you don’t remove too much material.

Solid little tool. With all these all in one tools there’s always a compromise. But this sander performs way more than enough for the home garage, if you’re a serious profesional woodworker doing it for a living this isn’t for you.Rpm is fast enough for both belt and spindle, doesn’t bog down when I sand 2x4s flush on the ends, it’s not so loud that your neighbors will hate you.I would invest in better belts, but it should not stop you from buying the machine, use up the one that comes with it first. The only other competitors are rigid and grizzly, but all 3 are made overseas and even have the same “shell”, not sure if there are any motor differences, seems like for around 200 dlls they are basically interchangeable.

I have had the Wen 6523 for 2 weeks now and have used it about a dozen times – from 3/4″ pine to 1″ walnut to 2″ white oak. It make quick work of the pine and walnut. Understandably, it struggles a bit on the oak but still does a nice job. I’ve sanded straight edges on the belt sander and long gentle curves on the largest spindle. Don’t expect this to compete with a larger floor model OSS, but for the money this is one tough machine. I also want to mention my experience with Wen customer service. I had a problem with the knob that holds down the belt sander. It took several emails and a phone call with one of their representatives, but it was handled to my satisfaction, including a new part. The representative was always prompt with replies and provided excellent advice on the fix. This is the second Wen I’ve bought (the first is a drill press) and so far not at all disappointed.
