This power planers 3.8 Amp motor delivers over 32,000 cuts per minute to your work piece, slicing away any irregularities until the surface of your boards are aligned and smooth. With a cutting width of 2-3/8 in. and a maximum cutting depth of 1/16 in. you’ll have the perfect companion for fitting and squaring boards. The 9 positive stops increase in increments of 1/128 in. anywhere from 0 all the way up to 1/16 in. The base plate shoe even includes 2 v-shaped grooves for easily flattening and shaping sharp post corners. The bases kickstand protects both the blade and the work piece in between uses, keeping the blade elevated and out of contact from the surface of your project. So, this thing feels awesome and sturdy, and it tears through wood like a wailing banshee. . . When it wants to, but I’m not sure if it’s a technique issue or what. I have a full suite of vintage hand planes passed down to me by my mentor. I love them, and have used them on just about every job I’ve done. I don’t have a proper shop planer and I’ve only recently gotten a pre ww2 belt driven jointer that is beautiful and soooo sweet. I like this tool though, but I fight with it a lot, but it’s been awesome clearing chunks of waste when straightening out and smothing boards, but I still gotta hit everything with my manual planes after.

Give it a 5 star because it’s a very quality piece of tool and does what it’s supposed to. However, we found it a little heavy and too strong for what we planned to use it for. Also, keep in mind that you are to do any planing job going with the veins of the wood. If you try to run across, it won’t come out right.
