Take on 2x4s and 4x4s with the spacious 4-3/8 in. cutterhead. Perfect for fixing stubborn doors and fitting wood. This power planer’s 8 Amp motor delivers over 32,000 cuts per minute to your workpiece, slicing away any irregularities until the surface of your boards are aligned and smooth. With a cutting width of 4-3/8 in. and a maximum cutting depth of 1/8 of an inch, you’ll have the perfect companion for fitting and squaring boards. The 16 positive stops go from 0 all the way up to 1/8 of an inch in 1/128 in. intervals. The base plate shoe even includes two v-shaped chamfer grooves for easily flattening sharp post corners. The onboard kickstand protects both the blade and the workpiece by keeping the blade elevated and out of contact from the surface of your project in-between cuts. Finally, the dust adapter combined with the two-way dust port helps users manage loose shavings, keeping your work space clean and sawdust free. The included rabbeting guide helps create rabbets in your boards while the parallel fence bracket keeps your planer traveling perfectly straight. This is the first powered planer I have used and purchased. It seemed to work flawlessly for me. The collection bag is deceiving–I thought ir would just fill up gradually and I’d stop and enpty… not so… it fills up FAST and can clog… so, I will use the planer without the collector bag and possibly with a vacuum… Nifty gadget!

Give it a 5 star because it’s a very quality piece of tool and does what it’s supposed to. However, we found it a little heavy and too strong for what we planned to use it for. Also, keep in mind that you are to do any planing job going with the veins of the wood. If you try to run across, it won’t come out right.

I’ve only used it once after a few practice tries and it seems to do what it suppose to do. I’m a self taught beginner wood maker, and this tool seems easy to use. The cost was minimal, so it was worth a shot for me. I still find myself using my handheld planer more than the WEN, but that’s because I have yet to do a major project. I feel good knowing I have this tool. So far highly recommended.

Great for the price! I bought this to shave a bit off some old doors that were sticking. It worked wonderfully on the doors, better than I expected. I have not tried this for planing boards. I bought this primarily for sticking doors and it does the job.

I returned this Wen planer. I found that while planing, I would be inadvertently changing the blade depth because the knob that is on the front of the planer that is to be held onto while planing, can be too easily turned, causing the blade depth to be changed, especially if planing on a vertical surface. They should make it so that the knob has to be pulled up in order to turn it to change the blade depth. Kind of like the opposite of a child proof cap! Otherwise, the planer seemed to be well built, or should I say WEN built!
