Received the 3.5 AMP OSCILLATING SPINDLE SANDER WITH EXTRA LARGE BEVELING TABLE TOP about 3 months ago. My daughter needed some oak picture frames and she asked me if I could do them, which of course I could. I wanted to put a special touch on them with an angle on the outer edge of the frame, something I have not done before, it was great having the extra large table on this unit. it is a heavy piece of equipment, it needs to be mounted on a stand or work bench. I would recommend this product.

Ok, it’s a drum sander…… It does what it is supposed to do but there are some things to know for those considering this product. First, I’m not a newbie. I’m 59 yrs old and have been wood working since grade school. I needed a new drum sander after my old one wore out, but I didn’t want to spend $500+ for a JET or comparable product. This one seemed to have what I needed, and while it does a satisfactory job. So, after owning it for 3 days and using it for over a few hours, here are a few words of explanation. I like the iron top, but all of the inserts that adapt to the size of spindle are plastic, and not really stiff enough. If one is trying to sand a small piece, the plastic can flex, causing an untrue edge. Plus, the groove in the top that accepts the adapter discs is too deep, causing the discs to sit too low and again, making it hard to sand a straight edge unless the part is large enough to span the complete opening. Another frustration is that the dust collection tube/connection is not the same size to fit a standard shop vac hose. I Had to use some gasket material to wrap around the tube to allow me to use my vac. Last, all the spindles seem to run true, accept the largest, 2” drum. It wobbles terribly and from what I see it is because the main spindle is not stable enough to support the mass while it spins. One can easily move or wobble the spindle when holding the top of the spindle….there is a lot of flex in the system. So, sanding with that drum will probably not happen for me, or if I do use it, it will only be on thinner stock that uses the bottom 1/3 of that drum.As I said, it’s a sander and does what it is supposed to, but I’m a bit disappointed. Not much I can do about it now after I have used it except learn it’s quirks and adapt.

This tool takes care of inside curves smoothly. I now have achieved excellent sanding where previously I struggled to get the finish I required. The unit is substantial in weight and has areas to clamp to a work table. The motor is fairly quiet with plenty of powerThe sander is sturdily built with a tilting top for angled sanding. It comes with a variety of sanding sleeves and spindles from 1/2″ to 2″ diameter. It also comes with 2 inserts per sleeve size to handle straight up and down as well as tilted sanding.

The table works great. My only complaint is that when sanding a small piece of wood with the large spindle the orange flange bends. It needs a more ridged design. I was able to fabricate a new one out of wood and it works fine.

My very first spindle sander. It’s been a long time coming; I have hand-sanded my last hole!I got the WEN Oscillating Sander. 3.5 AMP. It’s got power, but isn’t too loud, so I’m thinking it was a smart purchase. This sander has some heft and comes complete with five different-sized spindle sanders. The big sanding table tilts to 45 degrees, so it pretty versatile.

Great sander! Easy to setup and level. Be cautious when buying extra sleeves for this model from Home Depot. The Home Depot site only sells sleeves for the lower model. This one requires the 5 5/8″ sleeves. You may need to go directly to WEN.

Has good smooth operation, decent power, but table inserts are not the same depth of the table cut out, causing material to catch and hang up. Also inserts are very of weak material, so they flex. Made my own inserts, and overlay table. fixed the problem.

Performed exactly as I expected, very precise and easy to use.

The sander is excellent! But getting 5 1/2” sanding sleeves has been a real problem. Especially the smaller diameter sizes.

Wen model AT 6535 Oscillating Spindle Sander Made in China 3.5 amps I was enthusiastic about opening this box. My guitar-builder friend said HIS spindle sander was one of the most useful tools in his workshop. FIRST thing I noticed was how much lighter it was, compared to the Wen 12 in Disk Sander (highly recommended). SECOND thing I noticed was how easy it was to set up, much like the disc sander. The THIRD thing, however, was very different – noise level – unexpectedly loud (What the heck??? the other Wen product is amazing) Adjustable table and fences – angles are Approximate – Pro-tip: use a Trusted source for your angle-setting, not their dials. Suggested for occasional use – light duty only. Three or four star rating Photos provided in previous product review, showing ease of set-up, angled throat collars and approximate angle range

There were two missing parts, louder than expected, spindle only rises/falls about an inch.
