This sharpener does the job very well. I have a minor wabble in the stone wheel side, but is really not noticeable. Easy to assemble and packaged very well. The leather dressing/ honing paste isn’t the greatest but you will buy more anyway. The forward and backward feature is nice for larger sharpening of axes, froes and hatchet. Well worth the price paid. Make sure to add a magnet to the water vat to collect all the steel particles from the water, as the stone turns water cools and rinses the cut, and metal won’t contaminate.

It works excellently, the grind is a little rough but nit to bad

today I received the WEN 10 in. 2-Direction Water Cooled Wet/Dry Sharpening System. I’m very happy to have a good sharpener. All the years I have had my shop, I don’t know why I have not had one. I just took it out of the box set it up and already sharpen my first chisel on it. Works great, the wet stone keeps the tool cool and gives it a great edge. I well be able to dress up all my tools with this. The two direction motor make it mush more useful.

Sharpener works well. Very basic machine and has almost none of the attachments needed for most grinding of chisels, knives, etc. The attachments are available on line, and most other mfg. attachments fit this machine.

Solidly built, does a great job right out of the box. Documentation contains misleading statement to check for free rotation which cannot be done because of the obvious gearing; this must cause some people unneeded concern.

Worth the money, works well, you will need the optional sharpening tools to get the max out of this sharping system.

Good for the money. Spins a little out of balance, but doesn’t affect the the function too much.

The Good:. It pretty much worksThe Bad: To use it like you want, you’ll need to purchase the name brand jigs from tormek. The included stone is sufficient for most work, but needed major flattening/dressing out of the box, so don’t expect a turn key system for this cheap. I don’t have the tormek stone, so I can’t say if it takes the grading better or not, but I’d bet it’s better in overall quality. I invested 3 times the price of this grinder in the name brand jigs, and am satisfied with the overall operation using them with the Wen sharpener. I did not even try the included jig… It’s junk.

Works great – easy to set up. The included jig works nicely for chisels, which is why I bought this. Razor sharp. They make short work of separating tendons from the patella.

If you sharpen commercially this might not hold up but i don’t need that so this if perfect

The product arrived in a timely fashion, it was easy to put together, not hard to understand at all. I would’ve liked to of seen a finer grained in we are offered in place of the one that came with it.

Although I’ve been a woodworker for nearly four decades, I’ve always felt stressed when sharpening chisels and planes because I could never get consistent results. I purchased the WEN 10 in. 2-Direction Water Cooled Wet/Dry Sharpening System because I was too cheap to purchase the Tormek system which I understand is an excellent system. The WEN System was well packaged and arrived at my home without damage. Assembly instructions were clear and assembly only took a few minutes. This System is a pleasure to operate. Sharpening tools is now fast, consistent and actually enjoyable. I only have one minor issue with this System. The Universal Support should be about a half inch longer because when I sharpened narrow chisels, the Hand Plane and Chisel Jig tended to slide off of the Universal Support as I slid the jig back and forth across the wheel. I like the two direction feature because I don’t have to turn the unit around for the stropping operation. By the way, the stropping wheel gives an extremely sharp edge.

I have not used it yet but i do know it will not sharpen 13″ plainer blades ! and thats the main reason i bought it.

Wow! Impressive sharpener! This tool can sharpen anything you have, Its heavy and stable. I have tried it on scissors, loppers, hatchets, ax, lawn mower blades, pocket knives, fixed blade knives and kitchen knives. I haven’t found anything yet, it won’t sharpen. The big 22 grit stone is heavy duty and I love the wide surface. Having the wet vat and wet sharpening works great. It runs at the correct speed. I used the guide to sharpen a couple of dull chisels. The leather wheel and compound worked great on a couple of old pocket knives my grandpa had, polished and cleaned them nicely. I have ordered the accessory kit to be able to sharpen more items

I give it four stars but it could be five. The cost is very good for someone doing basic sharping but you will need put a less aggressive surface on the stone for a finer edge (sharper results) or maybe purchase a second finer stone/wheel for best results. A diamond wheel is probably best for a very sharp edge.

Cheap enough that even a half-decent job would have been ok. A *little* rough for fine work at 220 grit but a week I bought an SP-650 stone grader which gave 2x or 3x finer grit and I’m ECSTATIC. To dress the leather, put oil on a rag, not directly onto wheel. And you’ll need more water than you think, stone (especially new) is thirsty. Finish kitchen/pocket knives on a honer for surgical sharpness.
