Excellent cutters. Have used them some, but don’t yet know how well they will hold up.

***I am basing my review of these cutters from the the Wen tool to which they attach***I’m deducting 1 star because of the fragile nature of the cutters themselves. The second is due to the lack of supply. These blades are Great, and even better when they come with the tool handle, they are extremely sharp and keep an edge for quite a while. BUT! They are fragile! They are susceptible to cracking if you tighten the screw too tight, or if you don’t tighten the screw enough, so it’s a Catch 22. (If you don’t know what that is, look it up!)If you are getting any chatter while scraping there is a good chance you’re going to end up with a cracked cutter. For my purposes I used the Arc and Round for the majority of the turning I did, which is fortunate because the 2 square cutters cracked almost immediately (due to not having the correct screw from the purchase of the handles), the Diamond shaper worked really well for carving into the side walls of cups and bowls where I could not get a spindle gouge (I didn’t have a bowl gouge at the time), but because of its shape it was very susceptible to any bumps so it cracked fairly easy as well.If you are looking at these cutters for roughing work you will be Very disappointed, they are designed more for finishing and detail work, I will not even use them for roughing pen blanks, (Of course I’m getting more cutters, I still have 2 handles!)These cutters are obviously very popular as they are sold out at the moment here on Home Depot Online and on the Wen tool site, but Home Depot will put your email address on a list to be notified when they get them back in stock, although if they have to what for Wen to get them back in stock that could be a VERY LONG wait indeed. Wen has been out of stock of these cutters for at least 3 months now, so we wait…Actual screw needs M3-0.5 8mm. If it’s too short you will crack the blades. When you purchase the actual tool it’s a crap shoot whether you get a screw with the kit to attach the blades, so be aware of purchasing the wrong size screw.
