Practically a 5 Star for the price. This thing does a more than adequate job sanding curves. It’s still new to me so I don’t know how it’ll hold up but for the price I’ve been quite impressed.

Spindle sander has worked flawlessly to help me build two wooden rocking horses for my grandchildren. A lot of use and no issues.

I live in a resort which has a nice woodshop for the residents, and they have a large cabinet model spindle sander with a 1.5” stroke. This portable unit only has a ¼” stroke, but one would not expect this to have the same capacity of the cabinet model, but more stoke would be better. A longer stoke would help utilize more of the sanding drum, and reduce chance of burning the wood. I’ve only used this for a short time, but haven’t had an issue with burning wood. The sanding drums are easy to flip end for end. It’s a little on the heavy side, but I think this is an advantage to keep it from chattering. Actually, I was surprised at the features this unit has. The edge guide is handy feature to prevent the drum from digging into wood. The other feature is a set of clamps to mount the unit upside down on your work bench. I have a 3” thick top on my work bench, and this easily attaches to that. One of the attaching brackets was over bent, and had to be straightened before use. The additional accessories mean you want to store the tool in a box with all its miscellaneous hardware.

Looked at them all went with WEN because my dad had some of there tools and I used his tools. I wish the knot that hold the drum was a little shorter .I was making jam jars holder with 2 5/8 ” hole and the distance with two boards hole line up hit the bottom board on the down stroke on 3/4 ” stock.

This is a versatile sander. Not only can you use it as a hand held sander to work on larger projects, but you can temporarily mount it to your work bench to work on smaller items. The cord is long enough to reach to outlets near your workbench, but you will need an extension if you’re going to work on larger projects like benches, chairs, tables and the like. The sander comes with everything you need to get started, 80 grit sanding sleeves in 1/2 in., 3/4 in., 1 in., and 1-1/2 in. Diameters (each is 3 inches long), edge guide, non-slip bench mounting mat, bench mounting clamps, and a 1-1/2 inch dust port extension for connecting your shop vacuum.Pros:- Solidly built. It feels well made and rugged.- Variable speed (6 speeds from 1,800 to 3,200 rpm)- Quiet. It’s as quiet as my drill, I didn’t see a need for hearing protection.- Low vibration. It seems well balanced and it didn’t shake my workbench when I sanded down some parts.- Additional sleeve sets with an assortment of 80, 120 and 240 grit sleeves are available for about $10 US. This makes the sleeves less than $1 each.- Instructions for unpacking, set up and operation are clear and easy to follow. I appreciated the couple touches of humor (“Unpack with the assistance of a friend or trustworthy foe…”). Obviously written by someone who speaks English as their first language and likes their job.Cons:- Requires sanding sleeves designed for this sander. Generic or standard sized sleeves would make getting replacement or finer grit sleeves easier.- Dust didn’t seem to be guided to the dust port without a vacuum attached. Air flow is fairly restricted through the sander and it puts a pretty heavy draw on your vacuum motor. – Accessory parts (sanding sleeves, drums, clamps, pad edge guide and thumb screws) are all loose. An accessory bag or box would be a good idea for Wen to include so you don’t lose pieces. The pieces do ship in an unlabeled cardboard box which you can use for part storage, but for the price you pay, a small canvas bag or plastic box (or perhaps a tote for the sander and parts?) would be a nice touch.Suggestions after my initial use:- You may want to connect your shop vacuum and your spindle sander to a power strip and use it as the on/off switch so that you don’t run the vacuum any longer than necessary when using this sander.- Go ahead and get the sanding sleeve assortment pack when you get your sander.

This is a very versatile tool, that both works as a hand tool or turn it over and fasten it to a work bench for a stationary tool. Nice multi-speed feature. I would like the oscillating stroke to be a little longer than this one has, but it’s adequate to prevent sand paper burn. And because they tout this as a tool that can be used as a stationary sander by clamping it upside down to your work bench, I’d like to see a little larger base plate. But for the price, its a great value!

The WEN variable speed handheld oscillating spindle sander has a 5 Amp motor which should handle all of you needs. The spindle oscillates between 50 to 90 times per minute, with adjustable speed that can be set anywhere from 1800 to 3200 RPM. The kit includes these sanding sleeves (1/2 in., 3/4 in., 1 in., and 1-1/2 in.) and 3 rubber drums (3/4 in., 1 in., and 1-1/2 in. It includes two clamps to mount on any sturdy surface. A little rigging and dust collection is a breeze. Wish I’d had this many years ago, it is so handy! I had looked at a different brand and at three times the price I could not justify it. The first job it received was to “adjust” a couple tenons that were cut too long.

This is a good table top spindle sander. It’s the right size for craft and smaller jobs. It clamps down with the provided pieces. Good unit.

I was working on a project making some Adirondack chairs. Used it to sand the edges and it worked great. Very compact but surprisingly powerful. The clamps to mount to a table are very simple but also worked great. They held it very securely in place. For the price, I feel it’s a great deal. Make sure you get extra sand paper tubes. I did go through a number of those and glad I ordered additional ones.

The sander is very solid. spindle is perfectly straight. comes with great accessories and will clamp to your bench to make into a bench top spindle sander. I have bought several wen products and I have never been disappointed! There is another one of these with a Triton name on it. it’s exactly the same thing but over 2x more expensive.

I recently purchased a Wen plunge router and am very happy with it. So I decided to try out this 5 AMP CORDED VARIABLE SPEED PORTABLE OSCILLATING SPINDLE SANDER. It works quite well. It seems to be pretty heavy duty. I like the variable speed. If you want to cut something down pretty fast turn it up to #6 or slowly smooth something out turn it down to #1. I like the fact that you can mount it upside down on a bench, which is probably the way I will use it the most. It is a little heavy. It comes with 9 pieces total . The sander,4 sanding discs, 2 clamps and a mounting pad for bench mounting and a dust port. So with that many pieces you would think it would come with a bag or some kind of case to carry it all in. But sadly it doesn’t. Not the end of the world I’ll find something to carry it around in. Wen seems to have been around a long time but I have never heard of them til recently. Very happy with this product I recommend it. I forgot 1 more piece a guide that goes around the spindle so you can control the amount of material you can remove. That makes it 10 pieces total.
