Liked the easy use but the dust collector kept falling off and while sanding thresholds was too big to get to the sides.

Great sander for the occasional DYI. Made short work out of a big project. Probably not for everyday work but I would recommend it.

Works really well, not too heavy, good power.

It is a good little machine. It has enough power to get through hardwoods, the dust collection isn’t the best about half goes into that dust bag and half is just left on your surface, but it doesn’t shoot it off into the air so I’m not unhappy with it. The flat bottom and two clamps are a bonus

WEN 7-Amp Corded 3 in. x 21 in. Variable Speed Combination Handheld and Benchtop Belt SanderWith the recent purchase of a fixer-upper home, we have found the need for a large variety of power tools to help make our work a little easier. To cut down on expenses, if a tool can serve more than one purpose, it makes it an even better selection. That’s exactly what the WEN variable speed combination handheld and benchtop belt sander does. For sanding needs on existing wood (deck rails, doors and frames, and more) using the sander as a handheld tool works just fine. When working with smaller pieces of material where you will need both hands to position for sanding, this tool converts to a benchtop belt sander (needed brackets included). To help make that use more practical, WEN has included in their design a power-on switch lock. To cut down on the dust, there are several collection/reduction options available. It also came with a starter supply of 80-grit sandpaper.

It seems to work well. A couple negatives I have are the filter that pushes onto the side keeps falling apart. It is made in 2 halves (ABS plastic) and the 2 halves don’t seem to stay together very well. I ended up just taking it off. The lever holding the sandpaper on is also plastic. Seems cheap.

This may NOT be pro level, but it is very good and excellent for the occasional use. It is powerful and the variable speed is great. The best part is the low profile, and the ability to anchor it to the bench to make it a table sander/shaper. This is a great sander for hobby level work; for pro.

The 5-Amp Corded 3 in. x 18 in. Variable Speed Combination Handheld and Benchtop Belt Sander made by WEN arrived in a couple of days in a well packed box. I picked the Handheld and Benchtop Belt Sander to work on a dresser that was unfinished and had water damage and a damaged drawer. I liked the idea that I could mount the Belt Sander upward so I could try to repair the damaged drawer. The 5 Amp WEN Belt Sander is very light weight at 5 pounds and easy to handle. I like its compact design. It was very easy to put the 80 grit Sand Paper that with came with the Belt Sander with the metal lever on the side that allows the sandpaper to easily slide on or off. It came with 2 – 80 grit sand papers in the box.It also came with a dust port adapter, a hard backed dust collection chamber to collect the saw dust, a dust port reducer and 2 C type benchtop clamps for mounting. You can also attach a vacuum hose. The power switch is trigger style. There is a lock-on power switch which is very handy when you have it mounted to a benchtop, not so much when it’s handheld. I don’t trust myself enough to lock it on when I’m holding it.It is recommended that you use 2 hands when using the Belt Sander and I fully agree for me, it would be very easy for me to go astray if I only used 1 hand. Although the older models were much heavier and you definitely needed 2 hands this Belt Sander with the experienced person could use only 1 hand. The right front panel of the dresser drawer was chewed up and this Handheld/Benchtop Sander did the trick. I can’t replace the missing wood but this Sander made it very simple to sand out the rugged edges. The WEN 5-Amp Corded 3 in. x 18 in. Variable Speed Combination Handheld and Benchtop Belt Sander comes with a 2 year warranty, very helpful and friendly customer service persons and a nationwide network of very skilled service technicians. WEN has been around and manufacturing since 1951.

This 7-AMP CORDED 3 IN. X 21 IN. VARIABLE SPEED COMBINATION HANDHELD AND BENCHTOP BELT SANDER will be my new favorite tool for a while. My first job for it will be to smooth out the bottom of my 12″ cast iron pan so it won’t ruin my new induction cook top. From then on, I will keep it clamped to my work bench and sharpen all my machetes and knives. I have ordered some 400 grit belts to sharpen with.
