I am an occasional user of a belt sander. I found myself clamping my old sander upside down to create a bench top sander. I was pleased to discover that Wen made a sander that would fit the way I had been using my old sander. I’ve only had it a short time but it has already shown its capability as a bench sander.

This 7-AMP CORDED 3 IN. X 21 IN. VARIABLE SPEED COMBINATION HANDHELD AND BENCHTOP BELT SANDER will be my new favorite tool for a while. My first job for it will be to smooth out the bottom of my 12″ cast iron pan so it won’t ruin my new induction cook top. From then on, I will keep it clamped to my work bench and sharpen all my machetes and knives. I have ordered some 400 grit belts to sharpen with.

Works really well, not too heavy, good power.

Good belt sander but disappointed that it only had 2 #80 grit sanding papers. I had to order more to complete my table. Otherwise, good for the price!

This may NOT be pro level, but it is very good and excellent for the occasional use. It is powerful and the variable speed is great. The best part is the low profile, and the ability to anchor it to the bench to make it a table sander/shaper. This is a great sander for hobby level work; for pro.

I make Didgeridoos so for what I need this sander is fine. It takes the bark off and levels out the ends. So for hobby type work it’s very good. Good value at this price.

5-AMP CORDED 3 IN. X 18 IN. VARIABLE SPEED COMBINATION HANDHELD AND BENCHTOP BELT SANDER. This is a nice belt sander very light weight which makes it easy to handle. I tested it out on a piece of 1×6 poplar I clamped to my vice. I marked a line about 1/8 inch down and ran the sander over the edge. It took it down to the line in no time. I tried it at all different speeds and it worked great. I plugged my shop vac into it and it picked up most of the dust. next test was to clamp it to my bench with the included clamps. That too performed well. So far I’m very happy with this sander. Highly recommend.

So far it has worked great! I have used it as a bench sander and I have been through a few belts sanding epoxy and fiberglass on my boat. It comes with adapters to connect a wet/dry vac to it so it helps cut down on some of the dust. The motor seems to be very strong for such a small sander. Only down sides are the front handle is in the wrong place making it hold to get inside corners and it makes the overall length to long to the area being sanded.

A belt sander is not something you use daily but when you need it this belt sander is ideal. It is light weight and comfortable to handle. The ability to mount it to your work bench comes in handy for those small items that are difficult to fixture to sand. I’ve only had it for about a week and have found it useful to smooth small pieces of trim I am installing in my kitchen. The variable speed is also a nice feature. I also used it to sand down the bottom of a dragging door and had the entire job done in no time! I’m pleased with this sander.

Very versatile belt sander! Can be both handheld and secured down on top of your bench to be used as a benchtop belt sander. It includes the necessary brackets to secure it down! Therefore, this can easily be used with larger pieces and smaller pieces of wood. The 80 grit paper that is included smooths out rough cut wood quickly and effectively and you can adjust the speed of the belt sander using the 6 different available speeds.

Works great, but it won’t last very long! The drive roller is installed into the plastic body with no metal bushing. After the second use the plastic melted and the drive roller moved enough for the drive belt to strip causing a complete failure. Good news Home Depot took it back no questions asked.Would be a great tool for someone that uses it very sparingly, for arts and crafts. It is a toy.

The 5-Amp Corded 3 in. x 18 in. Variable Speed Combination Handheld and Benchtop Belt Sander made by WEN arrived in a couple of days in a well packed box. I picked the Handheld and Benchtop Belt Sander to work on a dresser that was unfinished and had water damage and a damaged drawer. I liked the idea that I could mount the Belt Sander upward so I could try to repair the damaged drawer. The 5 Amp WEN Belt Sander is very light weight at 5 pounds and easy to handle. I like its compact design. It was very easy to put the 80 grit Sand Paper that with came with the Belt Sander with the metal lever on the side that allows the sandpaper to easily slide on or off. It came with 2 – 80 grit sand papers in the box.It also came with a dust port adapter, a hard backed dust collection chamber to collect the saw dust, a dust port reducer and 2 C type benchtop clamps for mounting. You can also attach a vacuum hose. The power switch is trigger style. There is a lock-on power switch which is very handy when you have it mounted to a benchtop, not so much when it’s handheld. I don’t trust myself enough to lock it on when I’m holding it.It is recommended that you use 2 hands when using the Belt Sander and I fully agree for me, it would be very easy for me to go astray if I only used 1 hand. Although the older models were much heavier and you definitely needed 2 hands this Belt Sander with the experienced person could use only 1 hand. The right front panel of the dresser drawer was chewed up and this Handheld/Benchtop Sander did the trick. I can’t replace the missing wood but this Sander made it very simple to sand out the rugged edges. The WEN 5-Amp Corded 3 in. x 18 in. Variable Speed Combination Handheld and Benchtop Belt Sander comes with a 2 year warranty, very helpful and friendly customer service persons and a nationwide network of very skilled service technicians. WEN has been around and manufacturing since 1951.

I used it for about 10 hours on a stump turning it into a level table. It never faltered although the belt needed adjusting once in a while which would be a normal occurance. The lock down keys to make it a stationary device for small articles to sand really came in handy too.

Great sander for the occasional DYI. Made short work out of a big project. Probably not for everyday work but I would recommend it.
