The 1/4 INCH WOODEN DOWELING KIT is a reasonably priced kit that easily allows a wood worker the ability to securely attach pieces of wood together. It comes with titanium nitrate coated brad point drill bit and an adjustable stop collar to set the hole depths. An allen wrench came with the collar as well. It also has 2 -1/4″ metal dowel center to accurately mark the matching holes. Also included in the kit are 12 – 1/4″ x 1.2″ fluted birch dowels.I have attached a copy of the instructions from WEN showing how the process works. For the price a doweling jig won’t be included, but this makes a great reasonably priced kit for a person wanting to install some 1/4″ dowels. I would definitely order again!

Sometimes using screws or nails for a corner of a box or drawer just won’t do and you don’t have the skills or tools to do a dovetailed corner. Wooden dowels (and wood glue) are jus what you need for a strong fastener free corner. This kit provides everything you need to complete one box or drawer.Suitable for larger projects (repairing / replacing a dresser drawer). The stop collar and titanium drill are of good quality. I really like the inclusion of the hole markers to make the matching of the mating holes nearly goof proof (no measurements required!).

This is a really nice kit and basically comes with everything you would need except the wood glue. Overall I think the quality of the is really good. The drill bit is nice and sharp out of the kit, the only issue I ran into with the drill bit is due to the size of the bit a lot wood shavings get caught in the drill bit channels and cause the the drill hole to not be as clean as I would have liked. But that is not really a ding against this kit because I run into that issue with a lot of the larger size bits, I’m just noting that for others to be on the lookout when using this kit. The stop collar that comes with it has good holding power and I had no concerns while using it. The drill markers are super sturdy and leave a good marking on your secondary piece that you need to drill so the holes line up nicely. The reason I am giving this kit a 4 star rating is mainly due to what it is missing which would be a jig to set your holes in the center of the board. I was using this with a hand drill and it is probably better suited for a drill press. I think this would be a really nice doweling kit if you have a drill press but if you do not have a drill press just note that set up might be a little longer using this kit.

This kit includes a 3/8-inch brad point drill bit, a depth stop collar to attach to the drill bit, two dowel centers, and a few 3/8-inch dowels. The dowels are fluted to pemit excess glue to flow out of the drilled hole and they work fine. The point of the brad-point bit makes placement of the drilled hole more accurate than is possible with a ordinary twist drill, which will often wander, especially in wood with varying grain hardness. Some brad-point bits have extended spurs at the outer edge of the bit face, which score the perimeter of the hole before the chipping edge begins cutting. This bit lacks that feature and as a result the edges of the hole tend tear out a little and will be a little rougher than those drilled with a bit with the sharp spurs. This is not normally an appearance problem as the dowel joint will conceal that surface. Depending on the type of wood and the amount of tear-out, the joint could be a little less tight, but that can be avoided by sanding the joint surface lightly before assembly. The depth-stop collar in this set is fixed to the bit with an Allen set-screw. It can easily slide up the bit if you continue to press the drill against the wood after initial contact with the depth-stop collar, so if you are drilling repeated holes at the same depth, make sure to watch and stop pressure on the drill as soon as the collar contacts the wood.

Works great.I already used it for something else. My front door lock assembly was loose and falling out. I drilled the door where the screws held the bolt in and glued in dowels. Door is back to tight like new

Dowels work great to joint two pieces of wood and add strength to a joint. This kit solves two basic problems when using dowels – drilling the holes at a set depth, not too shallow, not too deep, and aligning the dowel locations in each piece of wood. Using the stop collar helps you set the desired depth. Allan wrench provided locks the collar on the bit. The bit is a sharp titanium-nitride coated brad point drill – will keep sharp a long time and the brad point provides a square bottom hole compared to a normal bit. Using the dowel hole center points eases the process, first drill holes in the first piece of wood, insert the center points, align the second piece of wood on top, tap to mark the location on the second board, and then drill the second set of holes. Use wood glue on the supplied birch dowels and you get a strong, aligned joint. You can also use the drill and stop in a self made dowel jig using a scrape piece of wood instead of the center points.

I am wanting to put a live edge counter top in and need to put two boards together and this will help me out greatly. When we start building our cabin and start putting in our cabinets this is the wooden doweling kit we are going to use. The kit has all the necessities I need to help me with my project when I get started and not having to run out to get the parts.

This 1/4 inch Wooden Dowel Kit comes with Drill Bit, Stop Collar and Wooden Birch Wood Dowels. Its pretty straight forward how to use this kit. There are instructions included. The instructions are illustrated and very easy to follow. An allen key is also included to tighten the stop collar. I like this set, its pretty simple in design and I would reccomend.

The dowel kit is a great addition, to any woodworkers shop. I am just beginning to fill my toolbox with these items. I plan to pick up the other size dowel kits so I can expand my tool set. The supplied collar and drill bit work very well. The drill bit is very sharp and works well for creating holes. The only drawback of the less expensive set is the missing guide to help you place your holes evenly along a board. You have to take your time as you go down the furniture.

What a great find! This kit contains all you need to use 1/4 inch dowels to securely join two pieces of wood: Drive bit, drill stop (to control depth) with hex wrench to tighten on bit, dowel centers and a dozen dowels…just need your drill. The instructions are simple, straight-forward and intuitive. My only issue was one of patience to align the boards carefully to make a clean, flush joint. Good price, too. Great starter kit for the beginner or not-so-serious DIY’er.

I am making a night stand and this works perfectly for a smaller joinery project. It was quicker and easier than a biscuit joiner and cleaner looking vs a screw system. The key as in any joinery is to work on a flat surface. Once you drill the holes on one side, I placed the drilled side with the inserted center points then aligned the adjoining piece next to it, make sure it it flat and then I clamped them together. The center points left a clear mark which was easy to drill. Everything I needed was in the kit and the table top was a breeze to put together. The only thing I found was that the bit collected wood chips around the collar, so be sure to clean it each time before you drill each hole.

This dowel kit performed pretty much as I expected. To try it out I used horizontal boring to join two scrap pieces of softwood. I used the stop collar on the brad point drill bit set to a little more than half the length of one of the 1.5″ dowels. The bit cut smoothly and quickly at 1000 RPM, perhaps too quickly because there was some tear-out around the top of the hole that I had to clean up before I could insert the metal dowel centers. I also found that chips had caught between the twists in the 4″ drill bit and the stop collar so I cleaned them out between drilling each hole. The points on the dowel centers are plenty sharp. I was able to make crisp matching dents in the mating piece by just pressing them together with my hands. After drilling the mating holes and inserting the dowels I found the alignment was perfect. An illustrated color instruction sheet is included. This kit is made in China.

I was wanting a dowelling setup to use on my drill press as I have one to the full setup, I have setup for my hand drill. I like this set because once you’ve drilled, they have included a pin to use as a centering marker for the next set of holes for the corresponding set of holes to be matched up perfectly with the tap of a hammer. The kit includes a 3/8-inch drill bit, two center markers, Allen wrench and 12 fluted dowels
