We’ve always used dowels because that is what we had. This little gem does a nice job with ease and comes ready to use out of the box with three sizes of sample biscuits. It is easy to figure out and easy to set for board thickness. It has a safety trigger, a dust collection bag, and a nice plastic case to keep everything together. I’m an intermediate woodworker and this is a nice addition to my workshop.

I had never used a biscuit joiner before so this was a totally new experience for me. This joiner was so easy to use that within 10 minutes of unboxing I was using it to join two parts of a table I am working on. Simple to operate, works smoothly, creates 3 sizes of biscuit holes and comes with 3 sizes of sample biscuits. This is the second WEN product I have purchased (I also own a WEB planer) and I have found WEN products to be reliable, affordable, and a solidly built. particularly for the DIY audience, I would recommend this joiner in a heartbeat!

This is my first experience with a biscuit joiner so I have no comparison. My first few holes I did not get the holes perfectly parallel with the surface of the board. Now that I pay closer attention to alignment of the tool I am very happy with the results. Holding the plate firmly to the top surface of the board and raising or lowering the tool to get perfect alignment makes all the difference. also be sure the board is firmly clamped in place.

The WEN 8.5 Amp Plate and Biscuit Joiner with Case and Biscuits worked very good for me with some test cuts. It looks like the same basic item as the one from that big tool company that gets all its tools from China, however, Home Depot has a cheaper price and the case and some biscuits in its kit. No dust flew out, it was all caught by the dust bag. The cuts looked perfect after adjusting the 90 angle, it was off a little off out of the box, but it was easy to calibrate. The tool looks like an angle grinder attached to a biscuit joiner jig. Make sure you let the rpms get up to speed and don’t force it or it will walk a little, like they all do. I say the quality is good not excellent because the bearing and or transmission makes a bit of a rattling noise as it is running. It looks very well made for the price and is all a DIYer needs.

Probably the fifth WEN tool of my collection, This biscuit joiner and biscuits will come in handy in my shop. Joining boards for flat surfaces or making mitered cuts stronger, is key in my wood working. I cut four slots as a test and my only concern is that is seemed to be burning while cutting a slot in the side of a 2 x 4. I will do more checking later. The case is a handy storage and travel container and the included biscuits will get me going. One photo shows a bag of silica gel in a tub with the biscuits to keep any moisture from them and premature swelling. All necessary adjustment are fine and seem to be spot on.

The biscuit cutter works well but was not adjusted correctly from the factory. Needed to be fine tuned to cut the right depth for the biscuits to seat properly, otherwise it worked extremely well.

this works very well and operates as expected. Biscuits work well when installed with glue. This unit was a great value and was exactly what i needed for my project.

My project needed biscuits, and since my use of them is rare, I chose a joiner from a reputable company, and after checking out some reviews, the Wen seemed to be the best value for the money, plus it has a case. I am very happy with this choice and would recommend this joiner.

This WEN plate and biscuit joiner is the perfect addition to any workshop. It comes in a nice case for storage (and to keep clean) with biscuits already in the box. There is no assembly required at all. I did need to quickly calibrate it prior to using it the first time after some testing, but it was easy to do and if this is your first joiner, the instructions are very helpful. This is a very sturdy, strong, and heavy product and very good quality. If you are looking for an affordable joiner that is good quality, this is the one for you.

WEN 8.5 Amp Plate and Biscuit Joiner with Case and Biscuits is a flexible system that can handle a number of different size biscuits and cutting angle positions. The tool is similar to many others I’ve seen in its design and layout. This one is an economically priced fully capable budget tool. It functions up to a high standard, but lacks the trim and polished finish of higher priced ones. Everything is there that you need in a biscuit joiner. The tool is basically a blade cutter that makes a precise pocket for a biscuit in wood, either using the tool’s base or an adjustable fence for positioning. In joiners the most important requirement is accurate and tight biscuit cuts. This is because any slop weakens the biscuit’s ability to add strength even with wood glue. I found this tool made clean pockets for WEN’s biscuits, they were tight and aligned. There was no wiggle in the slot and biscuits had a finger tight fit. The fence aligned when locked down without slipping, used it to cut a 45-degree angle, too after some practice. All angles from zero to 90-degrees are available with the fence. This tool has good alignment if you pay attention to registration when measuring up from the bottom of the cut or from the top down. It’s because nothing moves once set and locked down. Having said that, the fence height adjustment is not the better rack and pinion style. There is a black knob on the left side, next to the fence that loosens it so it slides up and down. A little wiggle across the bottom of the fence, about a 1/16th-inch when moving was observed. Easily resolved, just double check it with a good ruler when done and be sure the lock knob is tight. The biscuit joiner comes with a storage case, a small supply of biscuits (#20, #10 and #0), a sawdust bag and a spanner wrench tool to change the blade when needed. This brings up maintenance, WEN recommends changing the motor brushes every 60 hours of use. All standard stuff. This is a fully capable tool without the high finish. It’s good for those that need biscuits at times working on projects . I own several WEN tools and they get the job done fine, good quality and last.
