This versatile set provides a variety of interchangeable lathe centers to meet the needs of any turning application. This kit includes 3 multi-spur drive centers (5/8 in., 1 in. and 1-1/2 in.), three 4-tooth set centers (5/8 in., 1 in. and 1-1/2 in.), 2 wrenches, one 1 in. x 8 TPI set center body (M14-1.5 thread size), one MT2 live center, and one MT2 live center with a crown tip, all packaged neatly into a compact, aluminum carrying case. Compatible with WEN lathe models 3424, 3424T, 34018, 3427, 34027 and 34034.

This is the Wen MT2 Live and Drive Center Kit for wood lathes (model LA0009). The kit comes in an aluminum case, and everything is individually packed with a light coating of oil that needs to be cleaned off before use (see Photo 1). You get six drive centers (for the head stock) that use an adapter that fits on a 1 in. x 8 TPI thread. The drive centers include three multi-spur (1 1/2″, 1”, and 5/8”) and three four-spur (also 1 1/2″, 1”, and 5/8”). The two included wrenches (more like breaker bars) make changing between the drive centers very easy. For the tail stock, you get two live centers; one with a crown tip and one without (see Photos 2 and 3). Photo 4 shows how you use the “wrenches” to loosen the drive head from the adapter. Photo 5 shows the kit all cleaned and in the box. I already have one four-spur drive center and one live center for my lathe, but sometimes I find myself needing a smaller drive or live center. With the various sizes in this kit, I have all the sizes I need.The quality of the drives is actually quite good—the milling is precise, and the finish on everything is supurb. I ran all the drives and was not able to detect any run-out. Photo 6 shows the small multi-spur drives holding a spindle. Overall I’d say the set is quite a bargain.

This Wen drive and live center kit is Awesome. The pieces that are included are all very usable for different types of turning you may need to do. The quality seems very good and finish is top grade on all of the items. The case its all packaged in is really cool as well. Keeps every item in its own home. One thing to note be Careful cleaning off the oil off the drive spurs these are very sharp which they should be to bite into the wood. Very pleased with purchase and always happy with HD service.

This case with a total of 9 pieces is absolutely amazing. Everything you need is there, whether turning large or small stock, you have bits for holding almost any piece of wood. No matter what the project, you have the bits to hold your piece, plus the drive and live centers will accommodate about any project you want to work on. A great set and real time and money saver package. Plus, the protection of having everything protected in the heavy duty aluminum case with foam padding.

This is a very nice kit in a padded aluminum case that I ordered along with my WEN 4.5 amp 12 X 18 wood lathe. Since I am returning to woodworking after some years it is nice to have everything you need to get started wood turning. This kit will allow me to work on different sized and shaped projects. I am looking forward to turning some small table lamps.All I had to do was purchase some turning tools and I was ready to turn.

I am totally thrilled! I got my first lathe a month or so ago (you bet it’s a WEN), so I saw the WEN MT2 Live and Drive Center Kit and thought I gotta’ have it! You get a great-looking aluminum case (with foam padding, very classy) filled with some high-quality center tools to do your little and big wood jobs — three different multi-spur drive centers, three four-tooth set centers, a set center, two live centers, and wrenches, of course. This is the good stuff. You gotta’ get yourself this kit.

This is an awesome little set of drive centers and live centers. There are two live centers, one that comes down to just a point, the other that is a small crown, which will both allow a bit more access to your work than a standard live center does. Each of those is sized to fit an MT2 taper in your tailstock. On the drive side, there is a housing fitted to a 1in. x 8 tpi thread, which allows you to thread in one of six different spurs–three sizes of the standard four-bladed drive, and three crown drives. This gives you a great selection for working with a variety of different stocks on your lathe, for doing things like roughing out very hefty bowls or vases, down to doing very fine spindle work like Christmas ornaments. This is a great addition to any turner’s tool kit–would make an awesome gift to anybody who has a lathe (just make sure the tapers and threads fit their lathe–this fits Wens and most other recently made wood lathes).
