The WEN 5/8-Inch Keyless Drill Chuck is a very high quality tool, The MT2 arbor taper fits perfectly into any MT2 drill press, lathe, or mill and can be installed with the simple tap of a rubber mallet or by hand with a slight twist. It also accommodates a 3/8 x 20 drawbar. Be advised that if your tail stock or other machine has a “blind” taper hole, you will have to thread a 3/8 course bolt into the taper so that the MT2 taper can be ejected when the tailstock is fully retracted. The 3-jaw-chuck opens and closes without the use of any keys or tools and works extremely smoothly. The chuck is compatible with any drill bits and shafts up to 1/2 inch in diameter. I am using this on my Emco precision 11 and 10 inch lathes and with my floor drill press. I have several other Wen products and have found them all to be of highest quality and durability. This is a quality addition for any shop.

My WEN wood lathe is primarily for wood turning. However, it is also quite versatile in that a drill chuck may be inserted into either the headstock or tailstock. With the lathe turning at a fairly low speed, one may move the piece into the bit for for a precise desired depth. This chuck includes the MT2 arbor taper which is the correct size for both the headstock and tailstock. It comes packaged in a durable case that will protect it from damage while in storage. I expect this chuck to last for many years. Its usually preferable to purchase a lathe accessory of the same company that makes the lathe. I am sure that it is also compatible with other drill presses and lathes that specify the MT2 Arbor taper.

Tough, heavy, all metal, smooth operating keyless drill chuck. Fits tools that take MT2 (Morse Taper #2) types of chucks. The jaws open and close smoothly. It comes well oiled for protection and in a plastic box that is good for storage. I was very happy to upgrade my old drill press to this keyless chuck. It doesn’t say what the minimum bit size is, but the jaws look like they will close down to almost zero. I did test it with a 0.040″ (about 1mm) drill bit and it gripped it properly. But, this is a big chuck meant for bigger bits – up to 16mm (a little bigger than 5/8 inch) and that is what I would use it for.

This Wen keyless chuck with MT2 arbor is awesome for 39 dollars. The quick ratio is 7.5 turns fully open to close while a keyed Chuck is 11.25 turns, all while holding the bit just as secure.NOTE: this arbor has NO TANG, the Wen 4225 drill press requires a tang topped arbor but you can simply screw in a 3/8 with 16 tpi threaded rod or cut the head off a bolt and loctite it in place, leave about a half inch sticking above the top.Now you can remove chuck with your removal tool.

It’s hard to beat a keyless chuck for speed and convenience. Wen’s 5/8″ keyless chuck will fit any drill press or lathe with a Morse Taper #2 spindle size; this is a fairly typical spindle size for a medium-duty drill press. This chuck is pretty hefty, definitely heavier than the 1/2″ chuck it is replacing in my drill press. With the little testing I’ve done so far I was able to quickly tighten down bits as small as 1/4″ with no hassle. I’m looking forward to years of service from this one.

Very nice chuck that went right into my bench lathe. MT2 taper went in smoothly and holds securely. The action of the jaws is precise and uniform and rotation to close the jaws is also smooth. Everything appears to be properly concentric and aligned. This keyless chuck will save time and I can put the chuck key away with the original chuck to reduce a bit of clutter.
