I got these for evaluation. I am not a woodworker by any means, but I have intentions of trying. What you get for a good price is:1.) A 1-flute, 2″ long, 1/4″ Dia. X 3/4″cutting length straight bit, max 28,000 RPM2.) A 2-3/16″ long, 1/2″ Dia. X 1/2″ cutting length flush-cut bit with onboard bearing, max 28,000 RPM and 3.) A 2-1/8″ long, 3/4″ Dia. X 3/8″ cutting length round over bit, with onboard baring, max 24,000 RPMAll of these have 1/4″ shanks, and fit into my small Makita trim router, as well as a larger Milwaukee with a 1/4″ collet. I had no trouble making cuts with any of them, and unlike some of the cheaper Chinesium “carbide” bit sets I have purchased, these were sharp coming out of the package, and stayed sharp after several practice cuts. Like actual tungsten carbide. The bearings were nice and spun freely, as well. My only beef is the length of the 1/2″ X 1/2″ flush bit. To clean up the edge of a nominal 1″ board, I had to make two passes. Once by flipping the board, which created alignment issues, and another by withdrawing the shaft from the collet by a fair (dangerous?) amount. A longer bit would be more useful, but it would likely be 1/2″ shank, and I think the these smaller bits were meant for boxes and decorative things, not counter-, bench- and tabletops. We’ll see if they last.

Initial viewing: When viewing the packaging I noticed that they make it very clear what the type and size router bits are in the package. One for straight edging, another for ¼ inch quarter round edging and a third or ¼ inch groove cutting.Inspection: All of the bits are very cleanly machined with a high grade of precession, and material and match the specifications on the back of the package exactly. Initial Testing: For testing I used a piece of 1 x 2 x 12-inch scrap pine and a battery powered ¼ inch router. As you can see in the attached photographs, each of the bits produced the desired cuts in the wood. With the edging bit shearing off approximately 1/128 of an inch by ½ inch from the wood, followed by the ¼ inch quarter round removing exactly that, and then trimming it further to produce a 1/8-inch edge at the top of the round. Then ¼ inch groove cutter did precisely that, as shown by the photo of ¼ inch plywood fitting in it.Summary:These bits are designed to be used for precise finishing work and will fulfill that roll extremely well. The groove cutting bit is excellent for cutting the groove in the sides of drawers for fitting the bottom panels in. The ¼ rounding bit is perfect for rounding the edges of the drawers. The edging bit can be used on pieces that are less than ½-inch thick. They are excellent bits.

WEN is becoming my go to Tool Company. I have four now. These router bits just add to my belief that this company is making great products at great prices. A three piece set that will handle most of my common jobs. The most important thing with these bits is balance and sharpness. These WEN bits are not lacking on either count. Before buying a big set of bits you may never use, try this pack and see what you think.

This is a nice three piece set to handle a few common routing demands. The construction is very good and the bits are very sharp and blaze through the wood. The bit size is stamped on the shaft of the bit, which is nice. They do have maximum speeds that they can be run at. Would have been nice to have that stamped on the shaft too, but not a major concern. This is a great set for the casual user who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on bits.

I found these router bits to be very reliable and durable. They are made of extremely sharp tungsten carbide steel that slice through even the toughest of woods. Several of my woodworking projects consisted of using white pine and one was with oak. In all cases I had no problem with the performance of these bits. The bits made my projects go smoothly. The package includes 3 different router bit profiles for maximum versatility. They include a 1-flute profile for making grooves and dadoes, a flush trim profile combined with an onboard bearing to help replicate complex edges and make flush surfaces and a 1/8” round over profile with an onboard bearing to create round edges. The onboard-bearings guides give these bits maximum support and accuracy during operation. All three bits have 1/4” diameter shanks. The round over bit has a maximum RPM of 24000 while the 1-flute and flush trim bits have a maximum RPM of 28000. On the back of the packaging are all the dimensional characteristics of the three bits.
