This wire wheel is a very good tool for a 8 in grinder. My Dewalt has a 5/8 in arbor shaft and this wheel kit comes with several adapter sizes. I like the brass colored steel brush wires just because it looks good and may add some rust protection. The brush seems well secured to the center steel crimped brush holder. Wire brushes that are revolving at high speed lose little wires while in use and it is important to always wear eye protection with grinders.

This wire wheel is a great added tool for my bench grinder. It is 8 inches by 3/4 inches. It can easily be attach to 1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″, 7/8″ and 1″ arbors. Chose the right size from the included adapters. This wire wheel is made of brass wires and is well made by Wen. Operates up to 4500 RPM. Be sure to wear eye protection, to prevent pieces of dirt and rust from getting into your eyes.

While this wire wheel looks as if it is made of brass. It is in fact steel. The first thing I noticed was the really large arbor hole. Then I saw the arbor adaptors. At first I was not impressed with them being made of plastic. But I must admit that when they are properly installed they hold up and work very well. The adaptors come in five different sizes as to fit most any grinder. Tried the wheel on an old crusted up wrench. And that went so well that I just went ahead and de-crusted anything else I could find. This is a wire wheel that I can recommend. The people at WEN have their act together on this product.

Brass plated steel wire. I like the brass plating as we live in an environment that causes bare steel wire to rust fairly quickly.

I own the Wen 4282 model Bench Grinder purchased at Home Depot, and this wire wheel is a nice addition to it. The quality is decent, although it is steel and not brass. Does come with adapters to fit any typical bench grinder. For DIYer or pro who needs to occasionally smooth a weld or surface or remove rust, this should do the trick. For someone who does this on a daily basis, there are higher end options available. It’s reasonably well balanced and can handle up to 4500 rpm which is more than enough for my bench grinder.
