Needed an extra internal drive to install new Mac OS X Elcapitan. This did the trick. B & H provided Great service , delivered on time, and a quick-easy install. Thank you.

I bought this HD as a replacement for my aging Caviar black that I purchased back in 2009 to use as an external. This first thing I noticed upon powering on the new hd was the low noise level. My 2009 version always made an audible resonance, which required placing a book under it to dampen the noise. This new drive doesn’t need it at all.

When I want a five year warranty and the security of file backups, this is the harddrive I depend upon. I have before, and that’s why I added this to my choices.

Needed a 1TB hard drive for an older computer I was refurbishing and didn’t have the space to safely mount a SSD. The hard drive arrived in excellent condition and has been working flawlessly ever since.

I have three of the 6TB and two 4TB WD Black drives that I purchased in the last few years and never had a problem with any of them. Excellent drives. They do run hot tho, make sure you have good airflow in your case!

These drives are very reliable. Go Black!

I was in need of replacing an aging 5TB hard drive used for games on a computer. I have got int he habit of replacing hard drives PRIOR to failure. I lost some critical data off a back up drive that was aging. I quite enjoyed the fact that B&H offers a RETAIL drive for less than the costs of a BARE OEM drive offered by the competitors. Speeds of drive are great, no crazy sounds, quite and efficient.

Replaced a failed drive on an older computer running Windows 7. It’s quiet and working flawlessly. I’m very pleased with this unit so far. (It’s only been about a month at this point.)

These WD black are well made and offer solid performance, with a 5 year warranty. One thing worth mentioning is the picture used to describe this model is outdated on B&H’s website. The one I received is WD4005FZBX. This model is two generations newer and comes with a bigger cache onboard. I bought this during Black Friday at a discount so I was willing get an older model, I was pleasantly surprised that I received the newest model.

I shoot a lot of video, mostly in ProRes422, which takes a lot of space. I record to an SSD then copy the video to a hard drive like this, for editing and archiving the project. I use these in a 5 drive enclosure, and rotate them as one fills up (which doesn’t take long). I don’t recycle the drives, except for data recovery, but keep them in archival plastic boxes for future reference. With a dozen or so projects on a disk, some active, and frequent revisits for clients, it’s impractical to reuse the discs anyway. I used to archive to BD discs, but it takes 5-6 to backup a 128 GB SD card, much less a 2 TB SSD (3-14 hours of video).

I have many hard drives (nearly 70) both in service and retired on the shelf in archival cases. I have found WD Black drives are not only fast, but the most reliable in my application. Black drives employ a data structure amenable for both storage and RAID applications.

Wanted to upgrade SAS RAID (two enclosures) from current 1TB drives. Needed 8 HDDs. The WD Black line of HDDs provides the rpm performance needed for RAID. In my case, 6 TB was a good compromise for the $$. Since these were going to go into a SAS enclosure, I did not need the SATA cables normally included in retail kit (extra mounting screws would have been nice though) Installation was straight forward. Ran RAID config tool for SAS RAID HBA, initialized/formatted the resulting volume. Drives are quiet, do not seem to run too hot (compared to the 1TB I replaced). Would definitely recommend if you want to upgrade from 1TB or smaller HDDs. You significantly increase capacity and price is still reasonable.

Installed easy no problems Will use it as a storage drive and start my computer with a m.2 card. Saving space on the m.2 but at the same time the black wd is no slouch on speed.

O HD fica reebotando toda hora! Fiz vrios testes dentro do que consegui.

At this price point, you are getting excellent speeds and plenty of storage for modern day media and gaming. 5 year warranty puts this drive above all others in its range, FIVE YEARS. Peace of mind for important game saves or priceless family photos. This drive is very light compared to my other WD black drives (2T, 4T), VERY light. The others feel like a heavy brick in your hand, this does not. I use it for gaming and that’s it, no issues, load times are relatively close to my experience with gaming on SSDs drives. We’re talking seconds here, so my experience was very pleasant. Its a great drive, don’t hesitate.

I use these HDDs to archive and store video projects (including the associated video files). So far, so good! Hopefully they’ll function if/when I need to retrieve an archived video file for future projects.

A customer in my group needed a large drive to store a large amount of data. This WD 1 TB drive suited the purpose. The price offered by B&H also fit the budget. The shipping was also fast and I was able t have their computer up and running in a short amount of time.

I use this drive in my Drobo 5D, which is my main storage device for my graphic & web design company. It’s attached to my old Mac Pro (upgrading to the new Mac Pro when it’ released in December). Compatible, easy to install, fast & reliable.

Some complain of nose. My computer case is open and very close (3 feet, 1 meter from my ear) and I find no problem with noise. My location is very quite.
