WD Black a great drive

If you want a reliable drive, look no further. The 5-year warranty says it all. Western Digital’s Caviar Black drives are so reliable the company is willing to warranty them for five years. That’s the best warranty in the industry. You can buy cheaper drives, but you get what you pay for. I’m not willing to risk my data on a cheap drive failing. I own two of these. I use them for my audio sample libraries, many of which have to be streamed at 7200 rpm, so those crippled 5400 rpm energy saving drives can’t get the job done. One drive is the primary drive, and the second drive is the backup drive. They’ve performed flawlessly and quietly for the last couple of years. In fact, I’ve outgrown them, capacity-wise, so I’m going to replace them with two Caviar Black 4TB drives. But I’ll use the two 2TB drives for other data storage needs. They have many years of reliable service left on them, and three years of warranty remaining. The best insurance against data loss is using a high quality drive, and back it up. Caviar Black drives get that job done. They’re my choice for reliable data storage.

I bought 2 of the 6TB drives and had them sent to New Zealand. One just started making strange noises as soon as it was installed. It’s cost me a small fortune to send it back. The only reason I didn’t just give it 1 star is the working one seems quite fast and quiet. Hopefully the replacement can perform similarly.

I have always trusted Western Digital and their BLACK series is the best!!!!

I have several WD 6TB drives and so far they are great. Simple to set up and have run flawlessly.

Have always used Caviar Black. Had only 2 failures in 10 years. Not sure they’re quite as robust as they used to be, but still the best out there.

I have bought several of these and have had no issues.

This retail kit contains the exact same drive as the bare drive kit. Surprisingly, it is less expensive too. Win-win!

These work great for our video editing. Rarely have issues.

Acquired two of these hard drives to accommodate my growing video storage needs. WDs are good quality drives that have served me well over several years. The 4TB is new to me, but I fully expect it to be there for at least three to four years.

I bought multiple 1 TB WD Black drives for clones and backups in conjunction with a variety of desktops, and to supplement my NAS WD unit. These are great workhorses and I find 1 TB and 2 TB sizes the most convenient. Clones are particularly useful for keeping the computers in service with scarcely an interruption whenever I encounter a hard drive or software problem. I have never had a WD drive go bad and if you have a WD drive you can use Acronis clone program. WD edition free. The retail version includes the mounting screws which are otherwize difficult to find when you need some. Often I find a new computer has several screws missing. Cons:None.

Purchased this HD for back-up. You can’t beat the size for the price.

Replaced the internal HDD in a 2009 iMac. Working without any problems. Worth every cent. More than enough storage for efficient operation.

I prefer my WD’s to Segate because I find them more reliable. I use this one for video and photo editing with very good speeds

Superb mass storage back up to my 500GB SSD which now over halfway full

This is a great drive. Large capacity, incredibly fast, and is quieter than the Seagate I replaced.

I am in the process of replacing a bunch of HGST drives for my Synology NAS which are starting to show signs of age. I now have 3 of these and about ready to get one more. They are quieter and run cooler than the old HGST drives they are replacing. B&H always superlative service and super good with delivery etc. Of course can’t be upset until a drive prematurely fails but so far so good. Will buy more, would highly recommend this drive and B&H

I purchased three (3) of the Western Digital Internal 4TB HDD with a five (5) year warranty to install in my Mac Pro that already has one (1) Western Digital 4TB HDD in it. In the early 1980’s I started using Western Digital for digital and analog storage in my computers. In 26 years of video editing I have never had a failure, and transferring data to new and larger HDD’s has always been a seamless effort using the Western Digital Cloning software that is available with all the Western Digital HDD’s.

This was the second one I bought. Unfortunately the first one was from another retailer and OEM. IT was noisy,VERY HOT and slow. At least has the speed I was looking for. But with all the hype I really expected better.

One time purchase that would render their threats non important 🙂
