We use these in an industrial application, they do the job and perform well.

It does what it’s supposed to do.

Bought a pair of these for a RAID-1 setup. Drives tested out perfectly. Only concerning thing about these is the groaning on power-down which I noticed. Doing some research, it seems many other folks have complained about this to WD over past few years and there does not seem to be a fix nor an explanation.

Western Digital Blacks are great hard drives. Great for storage. When this package arrived, it came in a bigger box with other stuff that I had ordered from here. No bubble wraps to protect any of the products inside. This was not a good thing. Hard drives are easily damaged if it were to bounce around during shipping. Geezes, don’t cheap out on packing now. Luckily, it still worked.

Good value from a reputable company.

The HTPC I am running had (2) 1.5TB WD Green drives that had a been re-used on a couple computer builds. The age of the drives may result in data loss so replacing the drives was a smart move. The 1.5 TB drives have moved to data back-up. A single drive to replace (2) drives is a great advantage.

I’ve been pleased with the relative ease of installation of this product, though I haven’t had the opportunity to test its storage capacity. Windows does not immediately recognize this storage device, so it has to be formatted before it can be used. I can’t address the speed of the reading and writing of this drive, but I would recommend it thus far.

Really frustrated that a reputable company would put out a product that falls so far short. Now I have to do a bunch of paperwork and running around to get a replacement.

These drives are solid as a rock.

I bought 4 of them for a raid and Final Cut. They are fast, reliable, and the best without being ssd.
Rosie Kutch (verified owner) –
This the best non ssd drive available. 5 year warranty, runs quiet and cool.

B&H service – great! When I register these HD at WD site I get warranty till January 2024! This is one month more then 3 Years! All WD Blacks have 5 YEARS WARRANTY! Even in Q and A -one of answer said 5! not 3! What is going on?!

I have been using Western Digital hard drives for decades. I only had problems with 2 of the dozens I have bought, both of which were 20 years ago. This drive has great capacity and decent speed.

Only for backup issues, after a few hours of using it, a strange noise can be listened. No access to the disk.

I have a WD Passport for my MacPro (1T), that I have used for 2.5 years; a WD 4T Book that I have used for 4 years; a 4T WD Elements external drive owned for 1 yr., a 2T WD Passport formatted for Windows for 1 yr., and I just bought an 8 TB WD Book on sale for $150, and I have never had a single issue with any of them. I just got this Black because I recently purchased a HP Omen desktop that has 2 external 3.5″ bays, each already wired and ready for a drive. I wanted a 7200 speed because I am using this to store photos and videos. It has a 5 yr warranty also. I like using SSD, but I could not get the Samsung Evo 850 to fit properly in the external bays and will need to install the 2, 1-TB 850 Evo’s on the inside of the desktop. So, the next best thing was to go with the fastest, most reliable product I could find….WD Black.

Western Digital are my go to hard drives. I purchased four of these 6TB drives to use with disk carrier for backing up my LR images. Fast and so far no problems. My experience with WD disks has always been great.

When I bought this drive it was advertised as a WD4003FAEX, but when I got it it was a WD4003FZEX. It was a good deal for a FAEX, but just a meh deal for the FZEX. I will keep them as they are still good drives though.
