Great product because of size and price.

Seems great, but drive is noisy. Time will tell.

Had many of these over the years and never disappointed. Prefer them over the cloud because I won this and once you store your info in a cloud they can change the pricing on you and you’re at their mercy. Great for video storage!

Easy to install. Tons of storage and fast performance.

We use this HD in our surveillance systems. WD Black HDs truly excel in both performance and reliability. I give 5 stars to B & H as well. They have never let me down.

Tested using blackmagic speed test: 150 read and 150 write using external usb 3.0

Bought the drive, came in looking well cared for (love the 3day free shipping) and works just like any other hard drive

I own this hard drive and would like to give my two cents about this drive. For a non-SSD drive, this is remarkably fast. The boot time on a clean Windows 7/10 install is about 14 seconds form the time the motherboard logo disappears. My SSD is about 11 seconds. The standard drive that came in the computers took about 22 seconds. While this was my experience with my hardware, you can expect similar differences but not necessarily similar times. I hope the previous sentence was written clearly enough such that the operative word differences, will logically convey my point on performance. For comparison, the stock drive that came in the XPS 8500 and 8700 systems gave me a transfer of about 115 MB/s while this drive gave me about 185 MB/s for randomly sized files and up to 220 MB/s for large GB files. Don’t confuse this with mbps. I would highly recommend this for a budget-wise alternative to similar sized SSD drives.

After multiple failures with the other guys, I only buy Western Digital. Green are ok if you’re trying to save power and don’t mind the lag while they spin up but the Black series is the one for fast response. Not as fast as SSD but only a fraction of the price when you need lots of space. Been using these for over a decade and won’t use anything else.

WD is always a reliable manufacturer of high quality hard drives. This drive is no different. I use it on my Mac Pro as a time machine backup. 7200rpm speed is the maximum these HDD drives deliver. Very happy with the performance.

I installed it as a secondary/backup hard drive on a Dell XPS 8700 that I recently purchased. After installation I used the WD Data Lifeguard Diagnosis software to test the hard drive, then I cloned the OS hard drive to the WD using the free WD Acronis software available on WD’s site.

The hard drive is often the weakest link in a computer, with this WD Black 4TB 7200 rpm I really increased the opening of my folders and photo files, almost instantly! My old hard drive was spinning at 7200 rpm but never had the speed of my new one, how long will it last in time? I also find it silent. Very good service from B&H, I order from Quebec.

Got it to keep my 256GB OS drive backed up with multiple versions. All good over a year later.

The WD Black drive is probably overkill for my situation but I have been happy with the performance of the previous ones that I purchased. Using external drive enclosures primarily for Carbon Copy Cloner and Time Machine backups, when the hard drives that were included in the enclosures die (mostly Seagates or WD Green by the way), I am replacing the defective drives with the WD Black. Also, I am very happy with all of my previous purchase experiences that I have had with B&H.

I need you to get fast hard drives for my editing setup. Western Digital Black Series is the fastest and I got the best bang for my buck thanks B&H for having a good sale on them at the time I need it.

Price will always be the most important factor in our purchase decisions. The 2 terabyte WD Black drive is the sweet spot of all the drives as it has an acceptable amount of space (1.8T realistically available) and a great medium price point. But don’t forget what else you get with this, faster than average speeds and a FIVE YEAR WARRANTY. Western digital is pretty much saying this drive will not fail you anytime soon. Above all else we need our drives to work and be reliable, and after 5 years we can switch out to new drives for peace of mind. Great price, honestly good speeds, lots of space, very satisfied with my purchase. I use it for gaming and music production (live recording and playback). No issues. It does make normal traditional HD noise as expected.

I bought 4 to go into a Drobo. Fast and quiet. I can’t speak to longevity yet.

Works well in conjunction with an SSD primary drive.

I need to amend my prior one-star review (Headline: Constant PWL Noise, Work-Stoppage Head-Parking). I was mistaken when I identified this hard drive as the source of my problems! Around the same time I installed the drive, I had also started working with a client who relies heavily on DropBox syncing: I’ve since figured out that DropBox’s constant syncing of team assets is what’s been annihilating my system reliability, and I’ve been managing the issue by Pausing Sync with excellent results. I’m back to loving these drives like I always used to! I’m posting this review to mitigate the old one, and seeing if I can get it taken down.
