This is a great product at an excellent price for anyone doing electrical work. It sliced through 12/2 Romex cable easily with a single hand squeezing the tool. The cable stripper is convenient but takes getting used to. You are basically controlling how tight you squeeze to cut through the insulation on the wire. It is easy to nick the copper if you are not careful. The third part of the tool is used by reversing it and using the tip like a knife to cut open the cable. Since you are doing this from a single side of the cable with nothing to press against the other side it is difficult to get it to penetrate the cable sheath. It took me 4 or 5 tries before it bit in but once it did it cut nicely.

I recently got to use these on a jobsite. They are terrific, save me a lot of time since I didn’t have to grab a bunch of tools to work on the wiring. They took a bit of getting used to, but once I did it was a cinch.

I finally got the chance to use these and they are great. I typically use a stand-alone cable cutter to cut to length, a sheath splitter to open up the cable, the cable cutter again to remove excess sheath, and then a wire stripper to remove insulation. This one tool does all those things and does them well. I have several other Wiss tools and they are all top quality, this is no exception.

I’ve done electrical work for over 50 years, this tool replaces 3 tools in my tool pouch, making cutting skinning cable, and stripping the individual wires quicker and easier. After using 3 separate tools for so long, it took a little bit to get used to, but I really like it now.

This is a great tool for running household wiring. It has 2 cutting notches. The larger one cuts the whole cable. Flip it over & each edge of both jaws are sharp enough to split the outer insulation of the cable. Flip it back over to the normal position & trim the split insulation. The smaller notch is used to strip the individual wires. It does the job of 3 different electrician’s tools.

In the past I have always cut Romex or similar sheathed cable using diagonal pliers, which I have found less than satisfactory. This is the first set of dedicated cable cutters I have owned, and it does make working with sheathed cable noticeably easier. So far I’ve used these primarily with 12-2 Romex, and have found it a much easier way to strip & cut both the sheath & wire.An unusual feature of these is that you can open the handle almost 360 degrees to allow you to use the end as a knife to cut the sheath lengthwise. I have tried to do this in the past using a knife, and always found it hard to do it well. So far I am finding that using these in this “open” position is a somewhat easier way to make these cuts. I still find these long cuts a pain and would still like to find a better way, but using these is a step up from what I was doing before.

This is a great tool! It has a solid feel, cuts wire cleanly and sharply and the multifaceted features, eliminate the need to carry more than one tool for cutting electrical wire. I was impressed with the sharp jaws, and I was easily able to cut the the tough jacket of UF electric wire using a regular one-handed squeeze of the handle. It also cleanly stripped the plastic insulation from individual UF wires without nicking the core copper. A minor difficulty I had was making a clean slice through the outer jacket of regular NM cable – when turned “inside out”, the cutter sports a “knife edge” which was not quite as sharp as a utility knife so it had a tendency sometimes, to get caught or snag the outer jacket. After a couple of attempts each time I tried this, it worked well enough to get the job done. Overall, this is a great tool to have in your box!

These are a great set of electric cables cutters have used on both stranded and solid copper multiple conductor house wiring with great results. Cutter has held and edge for the last month on multiple jobs and shows no signs of dulling anytime soon. Great quality and fits great in the hand.

This is truly the best cable cutter I have used based upon my 40+ years of working with both electrical and large diameter coaxial (ham radio) cables. This slices through cables with amazing ease with a nice clean and even cut. I only wish I had found this product years ago. You will not go wrong in purchasing this. I will keep my eye out for other Wiss tools in the future.

The flip joint 3-in-1 cable cutter made short work in cutting, slicing and stripping Romex cable. The cutter is able to slice and remove the outer sheath and strip the conductors. When stripping the conductors care must be used not to cut the copper wire when applying pressure during the stripping operation. It is not like a wire stripper that has specific slots for stripping various gauge wire.

We’re always looking for tools that can do double or triple duty. These cable cutters are a perfect example. It’s nice to have one tool that can serve as a cable cutter, wire stripper and sheath knife. The design is perfect and compact for completing all your required tasks at one time, with one tool. Very handy. A worthwhile investment, for sure!

I needed a wire cutter for cutting bicycle brake cables. I brought a piece of brake wire with me and tried multiple cheaper cutters, which all failed miserably. This one chopped right through it leaving a clean, perfect cut with ease. Search over! Highly recommended wire cutter.
