They were exactly what I needed to get the job done

I would rate these snippers “poor” for the purpose they were purchased: cutting a chain link fence. They were recommended for this purpose but didn’t even dent the fence. They were returned the next day.

I needed to cut several hundred pieces of wire. These cutters performed as advertised from the first cut to the last. The blades appeared to be as sharp as when I took it out of the package.

Had a pair of these for years and I finally lost them on the job. Went to buy a replacement pair but Home Depot was out so I purchased a set of the most expensive straight Wiss snips. They don’t have the cutting power of the “M-5’s” and they redesigned the mechanism to hold the tool closed which I dislike. I’m an electrician so I don’t have to make long cuts in sheet metal but for cutting flexible metal conduit and heavier gauge metals this product is ideal.

The nose section is short so it can really cut through thicker metal because of the extra levrage. These are straight cut so don’t curl the metal on either side. This makes them somewhat difficult to make long cuts, just like any straight cut snips. The steel used for the cutting edges is really sharp.

I’ve had an older pair of this short style snips and lost’em so I replaced them with these and I am here to say these are very disappointing. They say they cut to 16 Gauge but that is not so as they barely cut 20 Gauge Material, Aluminum at that. They seemed a bit too bulky and this new head design dose not reach the tight sports that the former did with ease. The seem to be made with quality materials but for their price they are NO BARGAIN. They boost of having a flat joint but I saw no real benefit to it as it made the actual blades much wider. The cut was horrible and I could not cut an Aluminum transition strip, there just seemed to be no real leverage. My former pair cut this transition strip like cardboard but these snips failed so I returned them.
