These are not your average scissors…. they are well-made, heavy duty shears that smoothly and easily cut a variety of materials you might encounter in various jobs around the house. I tried them on a variety of materials including carpet, heavy fabric, and a couple different thicknesses of cardboard. None of these presented a problem and I always got a nice smooth cut which I think is a testament to the sturdiness and sharpness of the shears. These are not meant for metal or wire and using the shears on these materials could damage them or reduce their effectiveness.

Beautifully constructed Shears, weighing about 13.4 ounces, so not a lightweight pair of scissors. I tested it on an egg carton, since I use cartons to store my hard boiled eggs. It cut through all the layers very easily. The scissors measures a little over 10 inches from handle to tip. The handle is ergonomically styled, which helps since I have hand issues. Very sharp, but came packaged with a tip guard which I will continue to use. The description says that it can cut through upholstery, carpet, and drapery, but haven’t tested that yet. I not only do DIY projects, but I also sew and do upholstery, so these will come in handy.

I’m happy I no longer have to use my kitchen shears to do the tough cutting jobs. I did not know these shears actually existed until I saw them on line with Home Depot. Some cutting jobs are made so much easier with a larger heavier type scissors. I’ve been using Wiss shears for years and found they are a premium scissor that wears and wears forever.

Finally invested in some “industrial” scissors to help save some wear and tear on our standard scissors and get many jobs done more easily! These scissors are super strong, have a longer blade, comfortable grip and even have a blade tip cover to protect your cabinets, drawers etc, when they’re being stored away. These are quite strong and make nice clean cuts.

The Wiss Brand, 10 in. Bent Handle Industrial Shears are a large heavy-duty version of common commercial or heavy-duty home drop forged steel scissors that do not flex or bend providing superior cutting and shearing capabilities over the thinner flexible stainless-steel blades of common economy shears. The carbon steel blades are nickel plated to protect the shears from rust and corrosion. I found these shears to be strong enough to cut the thick rubber fabric I use to line the custom battery trays I make for recreational vehicles. Previously the only satisfactory method to cut and trim this rubber material was to make several progressive cuts with a razor knife. For me, having large hands, I found the handles of these shears to be a bit small to fit all four of my fingers through. I like that these shears are 100-percent metal having no plastic parts to crack or break over time to give a lifetime of heavy-duty service in the workplace or home workshop.

These are really excellent shears. I haven’t them long enough to tell how long they’ll stay sharp but so far they work very well – they’re large, heavy duty, and very effective. I used them to cut carpeting which needed to butt up against the track for a sliding closet door. (see pic) I had previously tried using a normal household scissors and it was a joke. It took way too much effort and was a VERY slow process. Once I got these shears they made quick and easy work of it.

Wiss 10 in. Bent Handle Industrial Shears remind me of a set of shears that my mother had. She worked as a seamstress in a “sweat shop” when we first came to the US. Shears like these were her bread and butter. She paid for those out of her own pocket and kept them for years. When my family opened a market, she use to sell fabric as thin as silk and as thick as work denim and cut them to length with her trusty shears. We use to make thing because we couldn’t afford to just buy them. When I picked up the Wiss 10 in Shears it reminded me of those shears. The Wiss, just like my mother’s shears were, are sharp, heavy duty, and will last. How do I know? I cut up a rubber and fabric ¼ inch thick mat that my puppy decided to take chunks out of. They cut right through them like a hot knife through butter. Now I have a nice mat again to use and small rubber pieces for furniture grip. I guess my mom’s industrious nature hasn’t been lost. The Pro. These are truly heavy duty. They are sharp out of package … many shears of this nature now come unsharpened. It has weight … if it fell on my foot it would actually hurt badly. It is truly old school. The ergonomics are also classic. The Con. They are just like shear they use to make 50 years ago so none of the modern conveniences like rubberized grips. It truly has some weight to it so if you are not use to using them it will be fatiguing if you use them constantly for 15 to 30 min.Is it worth the money? Yes. These are high quality and will last … just like your cast iron pans and casserole pots … you can and should hand these down to the next generation.

I’ve always liked the quality of Wiss shears whether in the garden or the workshop. I got these for the workshop. The sharp heavy blades will cut through just about anything I try them on. I have cut outdoor carpet, heavy cardboard, glove leather, denim cloth, vinyl flooring, even thin wood shims with them. (I did examples of these in the pictures below). And they were still sharp enough to cut Christmas wrapping paper after all that! If I ever need to get new ones I will probably get the 8 in. instead of the 10 in. pair because they would be easier to handle for my purposes. But these are great shears!

Great general purpose scissors. Heavy duty and very sharp. Many fiberglass shops use this model for cutting all types of composites.

These are some serious scissors. These aren’t for coupon clipping, that’s for sure. They have a good, solid feel to them, with a good weight, very comfortable. I had a sheet of corrugated plastic I needed to trim for a project, and these cut through it like butter. Hardly any effort at all. I’ve used this same plastic before, and used a utility knife to cut it, and that was really a chore. This time, nice! I could probably cut jigsaw puzzle pieces with them. If you need to cut heavy fabrics or soft plastics on a regular basis, I highly recommend these.
