Normally I would have thought that this was a wonderful product. A retractable blade seems so much more safe and easy to use. However, with this particular utility knife, if there is a way to keep the blade from retracting after each stroke, we can’t figure it out. Which means it becomes a great deal of work to hold the blade open to use to, for instance, open a box.

I own several utility knives and this one is the most comfortable to hold. The black portion is made from some soft non-slip plastic that allows you to have a good grip on it while cutting. It uses the same “standard” blade that has been around for years and so replacement blades should be easy to obtain. The “quick change” blade feature on this knife works with less effort than other brands I have tried. I tried changing the blade many times. The blade comes off easily every time and most of the time it goes back in with little effort. However, there were times when it took quite a bit of time to get the blade back in. It’s like if you don’t get it started just right something on the inside hangs up. You must use your thumb to keep the blade extended while cutting. There is now way to lock it in an extended position. There also is no hidden storage for spare blades.

The utility knife has a nice heavy feel and fits well in your hand. The quick release feature is fabulous! I hate it when I have to switch out a blade on my other utility knife because it takes so long. This knife has a switch on the side that has the label “Work/Change”. When you want to change the blade, just move the switch to “Change” and the blade just slides right out. The reason I knocked off a star is because it doesn’t come apart. So, if you cut something that gums up the blade, you can’t clean it out. Also, I like the utility knives that allow you to put additional blades in the body so you always have spares and don’t have to go and hunt them down.

This Utility Knife Is An Excellent Tool To Own Because It Has So Many Uses In Everyday Living. The Knife Has A Good Surface To Grip And The Auto-Retracting Safety Feature Is Fantastic. The Blade Is Sharp And You Can Easily Cut Many Surfaces With This Knife. Blade Changing Is Relatively Easy And The Standard Blade Can Be Inserted Into The Utility Knive.

This knife intrigued me and I thought the auto retracting blade could be a useful feature under some circumstances. I read the brief instructions on the back of the pack and while I was able to figure out everything I needed to know some elaboration on the instructions would have been welcome. The knife looks nice and it has a good weight and a nice feel in the hand. There is a button on the right that is used when the blade is changed. This is to temporarily disable the auto retract feature. The manufacturer advertises that the knife accepts all standard blades and it comes with one blade. I found changing the blade a bit fiddly but I guess it is just a case of getting used to the tool. There is evidence that the internal mechanism is lubricated and there is no mention in the brief instructions of any ongoing maintenance requirements. To use the knife it is necessary to keep the sliding thumb button pushed forward and the knife does indeed retract the blade instantly when the cut is completed. I tried it on various materials and it takes only a little pressure to engage the auto-retract function. There is a warning on the packaging that with very light use the blade may not retract but it was difficult to recreate this under regular safe use.If I had a lot of slicing to do this knife might prove to be a tiresome on the thumb keeping the slide button pushed forward against its spring all the time but if was making a cut and putting the knife back down or in my pocket to do other work this tool would be very useful. It is now in my ‘go to’ tool kit where all my most used tools are.

this knife is a little hard to use you have to hold the button forward so the blade is exposed when you take your finger off the button the blade retracks it has the same design as a regular utility knife there is a small button on the side that says work or change move the button to change so you can change the blade when you do that just pull the blade straight out and put your new blade in and move the button back to work

I have many knives. I really like this one. So easy to use. At first I did not know if it would do the job and it did. Good in quality and very easy to use. I like that it is very light weight since I am older and do not have strength that I used to have. I am so very happy to have these. Thank you again for this great opportunity. iii

I was in the market for a new utility knife when I saw this one and thought I’d give it a try. The biggest problems with the old style utility knives is the retractor not working and the two halves not closing completely when they got old. My last one cut me when the spare blade slid out because the halves didn’t close all the way. This one can’t do that as it doesn’t come in two halves. I like that plus the auto retract function is nice. Changing the blade is a snap also, no tools since it doesn’t open. We’ll see how long it lasts but it’s very nice now.

I have large hands so I appreciate tools that feel comfortable in my grip. This safety knife is very solidly built and feels sturdy and comfortable in my hand. There is a large black lever on the top. You must hold this smooth moving lever forward and hold it in place to expose the blade. I used it to cut several surfaces and each time the blade instantly retracted, even while my thumb was on the lever. It certainly feels like a well built and safe tool for projects.
