The HDMI to VGA + Audio Adapter Cable from Xcellon makes it easy to take the HDMI output from your laptop or desktop computer and convert it to a VGA port, allowing it to be used with compatible monitors and projectors at resolutions of Full 1920 x 1080 and 1920 x 1200. This adapter is compatible with existing VGA cables and also features a 3.5mm jack for stereo audio output, as well as a micro-USB port if additional input power is needed. Included with this adapter is a 3.5mm stereo audio cable.

I recently purchased a new computer that has only an HDMI monitor output, but wanted to use my existing monitor that has a VGA input. This adapter hooked up easily and allowed this type of connection to be possible. Very pleased.

I was wondering how it could convert a signal without connecting to the micro-USB port if additional input power is needed. I only plugged in the HDMI to my computer, plugged the VGA to my projector and I got a good video signal. I plugged a telephone charger into the micro-USB port and there was no difference in the quality.
