Transform a single USB 3.0 port from a notebook, tablet, or desktop into four USB 3.0 ports—with one performing double duty as a charging port—with the Powered USB 3.0 Slim Aluminum Hub from Xcellon. Each of the four ports is outfitted with USB 3.0 technology that enables it to transfer data at rates of up to 5 Gb/s. When used as a stand-alone hub, the one charging port delivers up to 2.4A of current for recharging tablets, smartphones, and other power-hungry devices. Furthermore, the hub is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 interfaces and supports a wide-variety of systems, including Windows, Mac, Chrome, and Linux.
When compared to the previous version, this Xcellon hub features a slimmer design as well as a redesigned power system, which provides a toggle switch and the ability to automatically turn on when the host computer is powered on or restarted. Moreover, the slim design and rubber treads allow the hub to stay upright while unplugging and plugging in USB cables.
Xcellon has constructed this 4-port hub of heat-dissipating aluminum and includes a dual-voltage power adapter for ensuring ample power flows to your USB-connected devices, while reducing the strain on the host system’s components. Aside from power, LED indicators are located next to each port, so you can see the power status of each individual USB port. There’s also an included 3.3′ (1m) USB 3.0 Type-A cable and an included 3.3′ (1m) USB 3.0 Type-C cable that lets you start using this hub right away.

I bought this powered usb hub for a raspberry pi NAS system. It works great and allows me to run two external hard drives and still leave me other ports to use. The small footprint is also a great benefit. I was able to model a case for my NAS setup and this was very easy to model into my design due to its small form factor. This is a great product for today’s complicated work spaces. I have eight devices using the USB ports, so switching to this device allows me to keep all devices plugged in at once. I do not see any drop in performance with this product. The aluminum hub and the use of a power supply were important for longevity of this device, and to ensure it provides features normally found on just the computer.

This is a well made product with a metal housing and rubber pads on the bottom to protect my fine wood desk finish. I like that the ports are vertical insertion in that it allows me to plug in devices one-handed without the port sliding across my desk. Great versatility in that it comes with both USB-A and USB-C cables. Also a plus is that the charging ports are data functional.

So far I have purchased 2. The little blue plastic inside part of the usb opening broke of one both. IF you try to plug in a usb with out that guide it shorts out. I had one with 3 slots, not I’ve got 3 left, when another little blue piece breaks I be done to 2. Then I’ll buy a different brand.

Well designed sturdy (aluminum) enclosure, bright LED function & charge indicators. USB 3.0 goes without saying performance-wise. Highly recommend this unit, great quality, incl cables! An added bonus is the unit’s base has non-skid, non-marking, vinyl protector tape applied to the enclosure to protect desk surfaces. Get one and end the cable hassles for good.
