Transform a single USB 3.0 port from a notebook, tablet, or desktop into seven USB 3.0 ports—with two performing double duty as charging ports—with the Powered USB 3.0 Slim Aluminum Hub from Xcellon. Each of the seven ports is outfitted with USB 3.0 technology that enables it to transfer data at rates of up to 5 Gb/s. When used as a stand-alone hub, the two charging ports can each deliver up to 2.4A of current for recharging tablets, smartphones, and other power-hungry devices. Furthermore, the hub is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 interfaces and supports a wide-variety of systems, including Windows, Mac, Chrome, and Linux.
When compared to the previous version, this Xcellon hub features a slimmer design as well as a redesigned power system, which provides a toggle switch and the ability to automatically turn on when the host computer is powered on or restarted. Moreover, the slim design and rubber treads allow the hub to stay upright while unplugging and plugging in USB cables.
Xcellon has constructed this 7-port hub of heat-dissipating aluminum and includes a dual-voltage power adapter for ensuring ample power flows to your USB-connected devices, while reducing the strain on the host system’s components. Aside from power, LED indicators are located next to each port, so you can see the power status of each individual USB port. There’s also an included 3.3′ (1m) USB 3.0 Type-A cable and an included 3.3′ (1m) USB 3.0 Type-C cable that lets you start using this hub right away.

Although pricey compared to others, what sold me was the metal case. This is important for shielding for ham radio. It also comes with a very substantial power supply. Rugged. It can be placed out of the way but accessible, which avoids things sticking out the front of a pc where they can get knocked into. Also each port has an led indicator.

I have had/used many USB hubs & most were junk but this one is nice 😀 I am really happy with this USB Hub, it is well made, does not get hot & my USB sticks don’t seem as hot. I don’t feel like it’s going to start a fire unlike most USB hubs. All & all this is a good buy.

This is a great product for today’s complicated work spaces. I have eight devices using the USB ports, so switching to this device allows me to keep all devices plugged in at once. I do not see any drop in performance with this product. The aluminum hub and the use of a power supply were important for longevity of this device, and to ensure it provides features normally found on just the computer.

I ordered two of these at the holidays – one was a gift – and the one that was a gift has stopped working in mid-March, two and a half months later. Very disappointing. I would think twice before ordering.

See the picture. As a full-time video editor, I regularly have 6-8 drives attached to my MBP. Right now there is a total of 24TB connected via this hub. I regularly transfer 2-3TB sized files & packages back and forth for clients and work. This hub handles it all as expected. The occasional fail: about once a week, and always when working on files via this hub… suddenly, every single drive drops off line-gets dismounted without warning. I get a stack of notifications that my drives were not properly dismounted before detaching. UGH! The installation is stationary, there’s no change the thing suddenly became disconnected… and the power line is regulated as well… but it’s as if I had unplugged the hub while using it! So far no big losses… except time. Project has to close & restart, transferring files have to start again… etc. It’s not the end of the world… but it’s a product fail I would not have paid for.

I bought this. The unit ran super hot, so hot to the touch that it could burn if you tried to pick it up. I wrote the company twice about this problem. Zero response. Zero!! This is not a company that you want to do business with and, moreover, the product was dangerous.

It works at USB 3 speeds, it is well built, I expect it to last longer than the USB standard. This hub is so over engineered it’s unreal, I wish every product was like this. It comes with its own power supply, I wish it had more than 2 charge Ports, but I’m happy with it.

I bought this several weeks ago and have transferred large amounts of data (think Terabytes) to multiple external hard drives. Not a single glitch. The 3 recharging ports recharged my cell phone very quickly (much faster than my standard PC USB port). I’ve had other USB hubs and had occasional problems with drives not being recognized by my PC. None of that here. Plug in your USB device, and my PC sees it right away. It’s more expensive, but if having a very reliable piece of gear is important, this is the only way to go.

I bought this powered usb hub for a raspberry pi NAS system. It works great and allows me to run two external hard drives and still leave me other ports to use. The small footprint is also a great benefit. I was able to model a case for my NAS setup and this was very easy to model into my design due to its small form factor. Overall very pleased with the product.
