I have this connected to a Mac Mini and connecting USB 3.0 card reader, USB 3.0 Samsung portable SSD and LaCie USB 3.0 portable external hard drive and can have all plugged in at once.

I am using Tether Tools USB3 active extensions and a Tether Tools USB3 Tether Boost Core Controller, connected as per their instructions, to reach this hub 32 ft away, into which I have a camera, a mic, and a serial port connected. In this configuration, the hub does not reliably work, even with the Core Controller powered or unpowered, and even trying the older 4 port Core Controller, powered and unpowered. But when I substituted the hub with a BlackWeb USB3 hub from Walmart, everything works reliably. At short distances, the hub appears to work fine, so I won’t claim it’s defective, but I don’t know what it is about it that causes problems tethered, where a different hub does not, but there it is.

We had a hub that connected with a thin floppy wire. The connector on this portable USB hub is so much sturdier. Seems to be working great.

So I’m not sure what’s going on with this hub. I have an elgato and it requires a USB 3.0 connection. I specifically purchased this hub to connect my elgato external video capture card. However, upon connecting the video capture card, it didn’t work and the message says I need to disconnect all hubs because a USB 3.0 connection is required. So I don’t get it. I don’t know if this USB hub is truly 3.0.

I bought this hub to hook up four external hard drives at once. I hooked everything up the first time and it worked great. That is, until I ejected a drive. I went through the normal procedure of ejecting the drive from my mac, but when I unplugged the drive from the hub, all of my drives on the hub were disconnected from the mac. I got three warnings that the disks had been improperly ejected, even though they were all still very much connected. This problem persists, so I am unable to swap out drives mid-stream, so to speak. This is limiting and unnecessary. The build quality seems fine, and as long as I don’t try to swap out drives one at a time, it does its job admirably. But that ejecting problem is a deal breaker.

Well made and slim. Fit the bill for what we were doing with it to combine various devices with great speeds through the hub.

It works fine with my MacBook Pro.

Works good, the only drawback is that the cord is just a few inches too short to be used on anything but a laptop.
