First of all this is my second Xerox printer, and compared to my MFP6180 Xerox hit a home run. The printer is easy to use, fast (although I do not really care that much about speed) and print quality is high. If there were an option I would have given the printer 4.5 stars for its overall rating. The 0.5 star reduction is for the minor light flicker associated with energy draw for the 1st page. If there was an option to slow down the printer to eliminate the flicker that would be awesome. Overall I recommend this printer, Xerox has earned their loyalty by designing a printer that works great. We also purchased the additional paper tray that is installed below the printer for legal size paper – Wow!

Installing the printer is easy. Perfect quality Installing the scanner takes hours. The manual is a mess with all kind of links, choices of possibilities that are poorly explained, , super technical issues, no examples, different functional results etc The https is not supported at the start, the certificate is not accepted by Kaspersky, Scan from “windows fax and scan” gives no choice for pdf Scan from printer console is complicated. No easy use of profiles creation and use

The Xerox WorkCentre 6515DN is an excellent color printer with many excellent features such as printing double sides, scan to usb or network location, fax, copy. The best convenient feature is able to print from your phone on the same WiFi as the printer is connected.

The print quality is beautiful, but the printer is very sensitive to paper jamming and minor error messages that prevent the printer from functioning. It is necessary to restart the full printer 1-3x per day for in office use of 5 employees with minimal use.

I have had numerous Dell printers only to have them eventually fail to work properly. Finally a Dell Technician recommended this product and I couldn’t be any more satisfied with this Xerox product than anything I have used previously. I love all of the features it has to offer me as a user at home. It is considerably larger than any I have had before but I am very satisfied with this work center overall.

I bought my 6515dn to replace my current laser printer which needs replacement parts I can no longer find. I researched all available multifunction units that would fit in the space I had available. I read all available professional reviews and customer comments everywhere. I chose this unit because: 1) It was a color unit. 2) It used LEDs as opposed to actual lasers (much lower power usage, much less heat). 3) It wasn’t an inkjet. 4) It does both duplex printing and duplex scanning. 5) It does color scanning. 6) It has a single-pass ADF. 7) It is the only color laser unit I’m aware of that will permit using 3rd party toner cartridges (a great cost savings if true), but I realize that a firmware update could eliminate that option. 8) I thought the printing and copying output quality were quite good. 9) I thought I was smart enough to set it properly (I am an experienced software engineer with quite a bit of networking experience). After I got printing from my computer working, I updated the 6515’s firmware using the utility I downloaded from the Xerox website. The hardest thing was finding the bridge version of firmware, but after that the process was straightforward. I couldn’t find a way to disable the firmware update report that gets printed every time the firmware is updated, but since that is hopefully pretty infrequent it shouldn’t matter. My main concern was that any bugs fixed were applied that might impact my ability to achieve my primary goal of getting scans to my NAS’s file share functioning. I back up my NAS on a regular basis and wanted any scanned documents also backed up as part of that process. I then removed power from the printer while it was on. Once power was restored, it powered back on successfully. The unit wakes up quite quickly from a sleep state, but it takes almost a minute for it respond from a cold power up. Although the power usage of this unit is quite low when it is sleeping, I still prefer to completely power it down using a power strip. When I turn the power strip on, I want the unit to power on without my having to go inside the cabinet where it rests and turn it on from the control panel. That way I can leave it inside the cabinet until I want to feed a document for scanning or retrieve a printed document. I have no current need for Faxing and made no effort to get that feature working. My goal was to get the scan to file share on my local NAS working. I struggled for several days trying to get that working without success. I couldn’t get the scan to computer file share working either. However, the scan to email was quite easy and worked the first time I tested it. Once that was working, I was satisfied sufficiently to keep the unit. However, I was uncomfortable with scanning important documents and transmitting them via email, so I next tried scanning to FTP. I had setup an FTP Server on my NAS and created a folder and made it shared for this purpose. The first test was to scan to FTP from the printer’s control panel. I entered the IP Address of the NAS with no prefixes or suffixes. I then entered the NAS username and password, again just the bare data. Once I selected scan, the printer established an FTP connection to my NAS and presented a scrollable director of its folders from which I selected the one I created and shared earlier. The printer then scanned my document and transmitted it to selected destination. Hooray! Since I now knew exactly what data was needed and the exact format, I created an Address Book entry for the FTP connection using that data and made it a favorite. This tested successfully. I then created an Address Book entry using the same data and in the same format but for an SMB connection (SMB sharing has been functioning on my NAS since I installed it) and made it a favorite. This tested successfully also – Hooray! This was my milestone goal, but I tried doing the same thing for scanning to my computer, but I still couldn’t get that to work. TIPS: When data are entered into an Address Book connection and is saved, you will get a warning if the data format is incorrect or unsupported, but that doesn’t mean it will work and there is no feedback until you actually utilize the connection information from the control panel. Once a connection is selected, closely examine the data that is displayed. I caught and corrected quite a few errors when I examined the data on the control panel and realized that the displayed data didn’t make sense from a correct syntax standpoint even though when viewed from the Web Server it looked just fine. Xerox, if you read this and are listening, please add a “Test Connection” button so that a user can test and verify a connection and its information before having to use it to find out whether or not the data are good. Some people are using your equipment in this “work from home” environment that are not IT professionals! In the System-Policies page it is possible to disable printing the startup page, disable printing the confirmation page, and disable printing the error page. These steps save a bunch of paper and toner because they really aren’t necessary in a home environment. When you try something and it fails, go to the Jobs display to see what the error was.

I got this primarily for it’s duplex scanning ability. It is great for a home office or small business. Prints look nice and the scanner and ADF are very reliable. Lots of advanced features for scanning to FTP, network share, etc.

I am a tad disappointed with the user friendliness of the device as well as the setup. The device keeps dropping the network connection.

I am super impressed with the quality of my printer. I am overjoyed everyday at the many features it comes with. Upgrading to the superinks added about 5000 pages I could print. This is a game changer. Thank you all for an amazing product.

The print quality is excellent and copies are of good quality. I use at home and networked this printer to 2 PC’s and a Laptop. Capable of Scanning from the printer to the Desktop and Email. The software to figure this out was tricky. Xerox needs to do a better job with easier instructions with the drives and software for Scanning. I added the WIFI Adapter which is an Awesome option for multiple computers to print to this Xerox 6515. Its a heavy duty printer ideal for larger quantity printing / coping / scanning jobs.

Great features and works great. I would recommend this printer to others.

The problem is the initial sheet that comes out when the equipment is starting. Copies are generally to light and are hard to darken. The software/operating system is glitchy and is demanding to be reset time and time again. This requires a complete shut down and restart. This seems to happen several times a day. The system for adding toner works well. The print function is good in itself. The many options that the printer comes with are hard to figure out because there are not instructions available as to how to set them up.

I am a teacher. Funds for education are at an all time low. My high school (and the county) has to pay for copies and supplies and each school is budgeted a certain amount for the school year for copies. This school alone made over 1 million copies last year. I thought I would do my part to help, so I bought the 6515 for my classroom. It has been a blessing. The unit and supplies are relatively inexpensive. Copy quality is great and convenience is outstanding. It has worked so well that I bought a second unit and share the copier/printer with the teachers around me. I purchased these units and the supplies with my own money, so the low cost is appreciated.

Can’t change the paper type/tray without waiting around to “OK” the change. The printer cartridge alert (which starts to occur before the cartridge actually needs a change) caused a large print job with numbered print materials to completely start over in the middle, affecting the numbering process and internal print record, HUGE ISSUE!!!!!

Overall this is a good printer/scanner. The color quality is average and not meant for detail. The only con I have is it draws a lot of current. Every time it prints a page the lights dim.
