Fast and reliable, the VersaLink C500/DN Color Laser Printer from Xerox will let your team improve productivity by offering speedy 45 ppm printing in full color. The C500 will ensure documents are of the highest quality with a print resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi and you can get started quickly with a first print out time of just 10 seconds in color. Also, this model features automatic duplexing for two-sided printing. Thanks to Ethernet networking and NFC connectivity, wireless operation and mobile printing is supported with minimal setup required.
Media handling is provided by either a 150-sheet bypass tray or a 550-sheet input tray, both of which accept paper up to 8.5 x 14″ in size. A rated monthly duty cycle of 120,000 pages ensures reliability even with many large jobs being produced. Operation is made easy through the implementation of a 5″ color touchscreen and a front-side USB for direct printing from a portable flash drive. Additionally, a USB 3.0 interface can be used for a direct connection to a computer.

Just started using this printer in my office. So far it’s great!!!! The black and white contrast is amazing. It’s so much easier than to read than our last laser printer. Easy driver installation. And the wireless network adapter works perfect. Definitely no complaints so far.

Easy to set up via ethernet. Print quality on enhanced mode is outstanding. Printed on the first job front/back without a hickup.Did have a defective paper tray, but Xerox sending another one.

In order to use this printer wirelessly you have to buy an adapter (which isn’t clear when you buy it) or hook it up via ethernet (!) but it doesn’t come with that cable or any others. It does come with a CD-Rom though that can be used as a drink coaster.

If you use this for home, there are some things you need to know: The good: * There is glossy paper for laser printers if you want to use it for graphics or photo. * Obviously not as nice of a printout than an injket as far as photos but it’s good enough for your own use * Graphics look great * Prints super fast, including color prints and photos * The web interface allows you to access the settings from you computer * Ink should last longer The bad: * Be ready to be your own help desk, this is not a simple machine. It’s intended for offices that probably enter into some sort of support contract with Xerox and have a technical person. * If you’re using it for more than one computer, they either need to be on a wired (Ethernet) network, or plugged in directly via USB. The WIFI option is extra. My home is on Ethernet so not an issue but most modern homes are not. There are some third party solutions that are external to the printer, but they might be fussy and not as reliable. Another option is to run an Ethernet cable from the printer to your hub/router. Not always convenient. * The admin password is the serial number, probably. You’ll be asked to create a new one, so write it down. Sounds simple enough, but I did waste some time on this. * It extracts so much power the house lights dim every so often. It does have timeout settings that you can adjust. You’ll have to read the manual to understand them. * Be sure to select the correct default tray and photo paper from printer properties and save that profile if you’re using this for photos. Do it from the computer, not from an app, so that it’s global. It would seem to be that the main tray should be the default out of the box, but it appears it the feeder tray, which is annoying upon first setup and test * Printer properties hangs when trying to access via some apps, at least on my computer. * Paper tray is fussy. It says there’s no paper (though not in those words) when there’s more than half an inch of paper. A whole lot more can fit into it. Try finding a solution to this without calling. Not easy since all the Xerox support pages assume the problem is the customer or that a reset resolves the issue. * Almost all error messages need googling to translate. Honestly, I’m very happy with the printer, but it’s definitely not plug-and-play, and not for you if you’re not willing to mess with the settings and admin functions, or have someone available that can do that.

After years of frustration and multiple failures across multiple brands, I swore never another inkjet, never-ever. Of the many laser/LEDs units this Xerox machine seems to be a perfect fit for us and its output speed and quality is stunning. The high resolution helps offset much of the color flatness issues with laser technology in general. Color line drawings (designs, schematics, et al) look fantastic and are equal to the output we’d get from the $30K machine at a blueprint house. And the C500 is soooo fast!!! But the real story is B & H – when FedX deposited a crushed and damaged machine, IN THE STREET, and AT THE WRONG ADDRESS, B&H did a no-hassle return and shipped another unit the next day. And, without telling us, for the same price, they upgraded shipping on the new unit to overnight! (FedX AGAIN delivered to the wrong address but at least the machine was intact.) We are so impressed with B & H support, and are also so pleased to have avoided Amazon (for many reasons). Thank you, B & H! B & H is now our first stop for online purchases.

I purchased the C500DN to replace a Xerox 6360/DN, which served me well for 12 years. According to Xerox, this is a direct replacement. In addition to plain paper, I use this printer with heavy glossy paper for CD and DVD covers, often with photographs. The color reproduction is superb, and easily enhanced through calibration with an X-Rite spectrophotometer. There are several ways to connect this printer, including hard-wired ethernet, which is my choice. Setup was quick and easy, less than 30 minutes total. Cartridges are replaced from the front, and imaging rollers from the right side. Only the fuser requires service from the rear.

Very nice color printer for our office. The unit prints very fast and has great color. We got a second paper tray to dedicate for check printing.
