These matched round over rail and stile Router bits have a 3/8 in. cutting depth and can be used to cut stock between 3/4 in. and 1 in. thick. 1/4 in. shank. Rail and stile door construction has been around for centuries and is the most common way to build doors for cabinets and furniture. Our rail and stile router bits will enable you to create your own frames for frame-and-panel doors. Cope the ends of your rails with 1 bit, and then switch to the second bit to route the inside edge profile in all your door parts. Now the center panel can be inserted and the door can be assembled.

I have this excellent because of the price. They are not as good as the Rockler set I have, but at half the cost they are still very good. I ran into an issue at first where the set screw was not as tight as it should have been right out of the box, in all fairness I should have double checked. This caused the openings to get out of alignment, this kicking and shaking a bit more than it should have. Once I realigned and tightened it ran much smoother. I’ve run nearly 600 board feet now and they are holding up. These are nearly identical to the shaker in stock cabinets that all the big box stores carry.

This is my first time ordering this type of tool although I had been in furniture PD field for 20+ yrs.I spent long time viewing the profile pics on line, noticed this is one close enough to the doors’ components I am fixing. Thanks for providing profile measurements intros on product page. For functions of cutting of a router bits set, yes, no complaints. But from structure point of view, I feel this profile provides weaker joints of a door, due to the “tong” is 1/4~5/16″ shorter than my old/most cabinet doors. Of course, design of longer tong will increase the cost of tool production and selling cost. That says, if this is for repair, one maybe disappointed due to there are so many various profiles are out there. Of course, its’ good for making new door. I like this set come with a wooden box.
