This top and bottom bearing flush trim bit has a 2-1/2 in. cutting length and a 3/4 in. Dia. The total length of the bit is nearly 5 in. with a 1/2 in. shank. Top and bottom bearing flush trim bits are used to trim the edges of wood stock that have sections of tricky end grain which are subject to tear out. The direction of cut will significantly effect the results. Having the option to use either the top or bottom bearing as a trim guide will give you the option to flip the work piece and either ramp or climb the woodgrain. As with all trim bits, choosing the largest diameter that will accommodate your work piece will yield the smoothest finish.

This pattern bit has worked flawlessly, making smooth cuts time after time. The bottom bearing rolls effortlessly along the pattern to make identical shapes simple.

As reviews provided, the cutter worked fine as a top bearing cutter. Before using I tightened the bearing mounts but the bottom bearing came off after a few minutes. For my use it performed well but the bottom bearing is inadequate if that is needed. Shipping was poor.
